Synopsis
Mailman Mr. Munday, looking for a little excitement, agrees to change places with a space alien. Will either of them be happy with their new lives? Color illustrations accompany the text.

The Hartes and the Golds have been friends and neighbors for almost two decades, and it seems almost a foregone conclusion that teenaged Chris Harte and Emily Gold will end up together one day. Although both families are joyful when a romance blossoms, Emily soon discovers that she is pregnant and begins to seriously contemplate suicide. Chris is at her side when she dies and despite his assertion that the two had made a suicide pact, he is charged with her murder. Culminating in a nail-biting courtroom scene, THE PACT examines the timeless themes of family ties and friendship and asks how well parents can ever really know their own children.

Great read

Created: 03/07/06
I purchased The Pact by Jodi Picoult after seeing it displayed at my local bookstore. I was happy to find it at such a reasonable price at half.com. It is a very engrossing read. I was drawn into the relationship between the two families and the dynamics of the resulting romance of their children. A few of the plot twists felt a little far fetched but the overall story made it impossible to put the book down. The trial scenes were wonderfully exciting and vividly written as was the entire book. I read it in one weekend and had to fight the urge to flip to the last page to see how it would end.

The Pact by Jodi Picoult

I am a hug fan of Picoult, this was my 5th book. She has an impeccable way of bringing her characters to life, you feel as if you are part of the story. She is masterful with the exploration of relationships, not just a love story, but freiendships, family, etc. She shows how everyone involved is impacted by decisions that are made. Worth reading, but not one of her best.

Another sad yet good story

I love Jodi Picoult because her books aren't the same, tired plots. Two teenagers grow up together, become boyfriend/girlfriend and then the girlfriend is killed supposedly by the boyfriend in a suicide pact. An emotional, engaging read.

Very Intense Book, great author !

Created: 09/12/05
This was the first book I read by Jodi and it was great. The book is really about two different stories. Two teenagers who are madly in love make a pact to kill themselves and one of them survives. This book takes you on a journey of the way teenagers think. It also shows you how the parents of these two families cope with their loss. There is so much suspense , I wanted to flip to the end , but don't it will ruin the book. I highly recommend this book!
