Great Phone - But It's Those Little Things!
Created: 02/01/08
I have always liked Panasonic products - they always seem to be well thought-out and logical to operate.
The KX-TG1034 cordless phone is generally along those lines. This is a digital cordless phone with 4 handsets using the new DECT 6.0 technology (1.9 GHz). This means you can use it without interfering with your wireless home network/Internet - a big reason why we got this phone system. We have been using the system for about two weeks.
The pack came with 4 handsets but can handle up to 6 if you require that many handsets. The voice quality is very good.
A great feature we love is the intercom system - each handset can page and talk with any other individual handset.
The Answering System is a standard digital model with good playback quality. Features are standard answering machine. The answering system can be accessed from any of the handsets or remotely through the input of a code.
The phonebook holds 50 numbers - once you get the numbers input into one handset - you then go through the menu and copy that number set to all (or some) of the remaining handsets - a great feature! I can recall doing individual handsets with our older coreless phone.
The range of the unit is great as well - in our two story house it easily hooks up with the one room over the garage through several walls and a floor. The phone reaches outside about 100 ft, so anyplace on our suburban lot is accessible.
OK - now for a couple of small gripes:
The answering machine allows you to screen call. However, if screening is turned on - ALL the handsets screen calls - we turned screening off after being awakened a couple of times by early weekend callers played out on ALL the handsets - effectively waking everyone in our house. As far as I can see, you can't have just the base station screen calls - how dumb is that?
Gripe #2 - the handsets are all identified by numbers, 1-4 in our case. It would have been nice to change the ID to something more personal like "Hallway" or "Jon's Rm" and so on. That way, when you use the intercom you don't have to remind yourself where each of the handsets are. It’s a small thing - but one that I thought Panasonic would have thought of.

Another hit for Panasonic

I purchased these phones because of 2 reasons. 1, I already had a Panasonic phone as well as 2 other brands. The Panasonic was by far a superior. 2, batteries.
That's right you read that right. The type of battery this phone uses very much influenced my purchase of this specific model. It uses rechargeable AAA batteries. Not some ridicules over priced battery pack that is basically 2 or 3 AA or AAA batteries anyhow! The phone comes with Panasonic batteries rated at 550mah. By simply purchasing a higher rated rechargeable such as a 1000mah battery, you can extend the already decent talk and standby time. Excellent features to note are: Fast recharge time (7 hours), Very clear audio, speaker phone on each handset, expandable up to 6 handsets. The phone were simple to setup and worked flawlessly. The only 2 negatives I have found are: 1)no lighted keypad, 2)no message counter. These are very minor negatives as I very rarely if ever make a call in a room so dark I can't see the keypad (it just seems odd after being used to a lighted keypad) and who cares how many messages you have, you would have to listen to them all anyhow. But this model phone. You won't be disappointed.

Four Handset Cordless Phone

I have a VOiP phone and needed a multiple handset phone with a single base unit. The phone quality is excellent and they were very easy to set up. We tested the range and it was exceptional...much better than our last cordless phone. I also really like the fact that the battery is a standard rechargeable. I don't have to buy one of the specialty battery packs! I am impressed with the phone and have recommended it to someone who is looking for a similar phone. In hindsight, I might have purchased the 6 line phone which would have allowed me to have two handsets as a backup but I don't anticipate any problems.

Panasonic excellence

Panasonic cordless phones are the best, they have great range, clarity & reliable. I especially like the intercom feature & handsfree speakerphones. You can select different ring & music tones, check messages from the handset & add up to 6 expansion sets without any phone jack, the expansion sets just plugs in an AC wall outlet & gets dial tone from the main unit magically. I have tried, ATT, Cobra, Uniden, & V-tech, but the Panasonic's are just better warm & fuzzy. :)

the phones have alot of nice options on them . easy to set them up . good range of talk . i have had a panasonic cordless phone for many yrs . never had a problem with any of them . i bought this phone set because my sons dog chewed up our other set .being i had other panasonics , i wanted to stay with the brand. having the use of 6 phones is nice .every one has their own phone .
the only thing i saw in the negative was the ring volume . it is lower than i am used to . but my hearing isn't what it used to be either ...
