  • 24 mm ultra wide-angle 16x optical zoom LEICA DC lens
    The compact, versatile lens system is the hallmark of LUMIX ZS series and now this lens system is totally redeveloped for the DMC-ZS8 in both optical and mechanical design. The high-quality LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens system is even more versatile with 24 mm ultra wide-angle to powerful 16x optical zoom.
  • Powerful 16x optical zoom
    The DMC-ZS8 features a powerful 16x optical zoom lens. This gives you highly natural expressions from people and animals that you can't get close to. It can also be used for shooting movies, and is designed to suppress noise while zooming. This slim, compact, pocket-sized camera can easily go wherever you do - for both everyday snapshots and traveling.
  • Intelligent Resolution technology
    The image processing technology "Intelligent Resolution" is incorporated in the Venus Engine VI for the DMC-ZS8. With the Intelligent Resolution technology, 3 areas - outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas - are automatically detected and optimum signal processes are performed to each area. Apart from the uniform enhancement of sharpness, the innovative technology Intelligent Resolution precisely performs signal processing pixel by pixel in the most effective way for it.
  • iA (Intelligent Auto) mode
    When you don't know which mode will give you the best shooting results, or when a sudden photo opportunity pops up and you don't have time to make any settings, simply choose the iA (Intelligent Auto) mode and let the camera do it all for you. You just choose the iA mode, aim at your subject, and shoot. 7 detection and correction functions are simultaneously activated to optimize the settings, so you get stunning photos every time.
  • Face detection AF/AE with face recognition
    The DMC-ZS8 features the face recognition, a function that "remembers" faces. The conventional face detection system captures a face with focus and appropriate exposure but sometimes it falls not on the face you want to capture most beautifully when there are several faces in a frame. The face recognition prioritizes focus and exposure right on the face of your special person. In playback, you can choose to display only photos that contain a specific registered face using the Category Playback.
  • Macro zoom
    The DMC-ZS8 lets you get as close as 3cm to your subject. In addition, when using the macro zoom function, you can pull subjects even closer than the closest point possible by using 3x digital zoom, and capture dramatic close-ups.
  • Slideshow with music
    The DMC-ZS8 can play a slideshow with music. Choose from 4 types of music: natural, slow, swing and urban. Then, select the transition effect to match your music. For musical slideshows created, you can choose your favorite iTunes music file as background music.
  • AF tracking - subject detection
    Once you focus on your subject, the AF tracking automatically tracks it until you press the shutter. When you're taking images of an active subject, like children or pets, this function eliminates the need to press the shutter button halfway down repeatedly to readjust the focus. The AF tracking makes sure you don't miss those once-in-a-lifetime shooting opportunities.
  • Venus Engine VI
    The high-speed, high-performance Venus Engine VI is incorporated in the DMC-ZS8 to enable the recording of beautiful images with higher quality signal processing including the Intelligent Resolution technology.

Still getting use to the camera but no problems and I like it a lot. I got the camera because my other one the front shutter wasn't closing all the time and was driving me crazy. I haven't had any problems with it. I still haven't printed the pictures out to see how they look. I like how you can zoom in so much with this camera. The battery time lasts a nice long time. It seems to take great pictures but haven't printed yet. No problems but I haven't used it tons in 2months

I bought this camera for my daughter and son-in-law, as I have an older version of it, with the 10x zoom. They love it, especially the features such as being able to set a "baby" setting, one for each of their kids, which shows the date and how old they are as of the day you take the photo. The clarity of the photos is great, and the screen is really clear as well. The only issue they have had is that the lens cover sticks, and doesn't fully open, which is annoying if you don't realize it and it obscures part of the picture. The camera is quite compact and lightweight, but not so light that you have a problem with "hand shake". It had a built in feature to reduce that, in any case. This is a great product for the price.

I bought this ZS8 after checking out cameras at Worst Buy. And like a lot of people, I bought mine on here. Hey, you cant beat the price. Box stores are expensive even when their items are on sale. I had a Sony DSC H70 and returned that because that camera is just poor. I was very let down by the DSC H70s performance and photo quality. It was the worse of all Sonys i have owned. So this Lumix ZS8 is fantastic. TExcept for everything, the only beef I have with the ZS 8 is the Play/Review button. It's very cumbersome to have to keep switching back and forth. But this Lumix ZS8 blows a lot of competitors out of the water.

i was buy a camera for get it a pictures to my sites but i think if some person want a camera have to buy not sheap cost but which he like even it's expensive but to be good quality and original with box with box original not without a box i think Panasonic good product i have a loyalty about that product

The camera is amazing it takes a little get used to since this camera has more function than the one i have before. The camera is easy to use and the zoom is really good i even use the max digital zoom and the picture ended up a good quality picture but optical is still better.
