Completely Different From The first Series

Its almost as if Aya is officially a "Mitochondria" hunter lol. Aya is now at a different police station with a different personality and different power spells, her body looks more realistic, i mean poor girl, she was skin and bones in the first one. Your game starts in the middle of her target practice. you can do this as long as you want and on any levels. Daniel and Medea are not in this one, but she does mention how she misses them.
the gun that she starts off with has an infinite ammunition box. you'll find these lying around a few places. there are also merchants or panel stores she can visit. you win points after battle. Your powers plus MP/HP can expand depending on how you want to spend your points or depending on what you buy. for example, some armor vests that she buys can expand her MP or HP or bring it down. it just depends.
when she examines some items, she can be quite humorous and chatty. Aya seems more alive in this game then the first one where she wasnt really sure of things, but now she's more accepting.
When you finish the game you get more points and unlockable items, I think the MORE you finish the game, the more items you get becuase i remember i kept playing the game over and over and its like the unlockable goodies never stop coming. If youre familiar with final Fantasy VIII, you'll unlock Squall's gunblade. it comes in handy sometimes.
you can actually SEE your enemies instead of running into an invisible field of them. they look alot realistic, they vary and there are some that look pretty strange.
the story is quite deep then the first one, I think this time Aya has to battle this on a more personal level since now in this story, she actually has someone to care and love for. but like i said in the title, this game is far different from the first. its like it has more spice and action.
THe OOOOONNNNLLLLLYYYY thing stupid about this game is that you HAVE to read quick becuase their dialogue boxes are timed. sometimes it'll only appear for about 3 seconds. thats the ONLY thing about it that sux. other then that, the game is VERY MUCH worth it.

Entertaining, but doesn't connect to the original

Parasite Eve II is a game that I'll NEVER sell. It's one of my many classics I have in my PSone game collection. It may not be as good as the first but I still find it fun and entertaining.
The game starts 3 years after the Manhattan blockade incident. You play as Aya Brea, who has just transferred from the NYPD to the FBI-MIST unit in Los Angeles. MIST is a special police force dedicated to hunting down NMC's and preventing them from spreading. When she's just about to turn in for the night, her partner, Pierce, informs her of strange activity going on in Downtown Los Angeles. When she gets to the Akropolis Tower, she finds weird, deformed creatures and must find out what they're doing there.
I did enjoy this game, even though there's not many connections to the first game. I really like the weapons (especially the bonus weapons) and the Parasite Energy attacks. 3 different endings and 4 additional game modes make you want to play this game forever and there are a few cool plot twists. For me, I was a bit disappointed in the storyline but it is a very cool action game. Play it for yourself and see how you like it.

Parasite Eve II: Perfect for mature (16+) players.

Parasite Eve II is a great follow up to the original. Does not matter if you played the first, this game takes several opportunities to give you information about what happened in the first game without truly ruining it for you if you play later. Like most early generation systems/games, the battle system and item screens seem somewhat cumbersome at first. However, there are lots of opportunity early in the game to learn these without being penalized. After becoming comfortable, their use is almost second nature and actually well organized. Like other games of this nature, there is some reduncy as you have to move back and forth between cleared areas in order to complete tasks to move on. This is not too bad except on one or two occasions where there is a bit more ground to cover and you feel like you're on a morning stroll. The designers try to break the monotiny by adding in new bad guys, which helps to build your strength in your character and obtain new items. However, at times I was left feeling like the characters (due to story) didn't know what they were doing.
The storyline is average or a little better. The world the game takes place in is much smaller than the original game which took place in many areas, taking you almost literally on a tour of New York. Parasite Eve II is more focused on essentially five maps: Building, small town, a mine, a testing facility, and (for lack of a better description) a terra-forming map. There do not appear to be as many cut scenes, but they are well done. Actual gameplay is clear and few instances of map confusion, looking for doors. Only once or twice was this an issue, but your map clarifies easily. Don't get me wrong, this is a fun game, challenging, and completes the storyline began in the first. There is easily 20 hours of gameplay. If you enjoy Resident Evil, this game is a must. If you are a huge Final Fantasy gamer, you may be a little disappointed. I do recommend this game if never played.

The year 2000... Squaresoft takes Parasite Eve to a new release this year with PEII. Great graphics & stunning music makes this game a must have. The story keeps again with Aya Brea and now she is a paranormal agent in LA. Mitochondria strikes back and she will have to take action back to fight against old & new foes.

Oldie but a goodie

this game rocks, imo. used to play it long ago. a must have for anyone who loves the res evil type games. has a decent storyline and her parasite abilities add much to gameplay; which already includes a nice array of weaponry.
one of the main reasons i liked this game was that after beating it and saving it. the rewards and bonuses are pretty nice.(you could beat it a few times and still keep receiving nice bonuses) unlike the later res evils or other games where all u get is to beat the game on harder difficulty.. lol :\
the graphics arent the best;(ps1) but it still keeps up with some of the better ps2 games of same genre imo, as far as fun and gameplay are concerned.
