Director Michael Bay (ARMAGEDDON, THE ROCK) uses a tragic romantic triangle to set the stage for the infamous Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in this epic tale of love, loss, and patriotism. When Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale), a beautiful Navy nurse, meets dashing ace Army fighter pilot Rafe (Ben Affleck), the two fall madly in love, only to be separated abruptly when he is called upon to help fight the war in Europe. Unforeseen circumstances lead Evelyn into the arms of Danny (Josh Hartnett), another fighter pilot and Rafe's best friend since childhood. In the meantime, the Japanese military is planning the surprise early morning raid on Hawaii that will pull the United States into World War II. Spectacular special effects vividly recreate the attack in devastating detail as bombs explode, torpedoes shoot through the water, and bullets fly, shaking tranquil Pearl Harbor to its core. Bay deftly captures the patriotism and the loss of innocence of the young men and women who were suddenly thrust into the war. Cuba Gooding, Jr., Jon Voight, Alec Baldwin and Mako also star in this tribute to both the fallen and the survivors of one of the most horrific tragedies ever to occur on American soil.

Pearl Harbor, Blu-Ray

Yes, this is a love story wrapped around one of the most significant days in US History, "The day that will live in Infamy!". I bought it because I wanted to see the attack scenes in Blu-Ray. They are amazing. Also, watch the extra feature on how the movie was made. Yeah, there is a lot of CG, but there is also a lot of amazing things that were accomplished, especially the cooperation with the US Navy Dept. Kudos to the USND for supporting this telling of the story. I guess my next purchase will be Tora Tora Tora on Blu-Ray.

Storyline in this movie is a little to lovey dovey for me considering this movie is about one of the biggest tragedies the United States has ever encoured, however the action is great and there are quite a few one liners in here as well. Blu ray picture and sounds is phenominal!

Average movie - worthless extras - Great audio & video

Yes the Blu-ray audio & video a excellent. There is nothing extra in the extras on the Blu-ray format over the regular DVD format. For me the movie did not flow well, poor script, not impressed with the acting. The special effects during the invasion were awesome, but it is not enough to save an average movie and not enough to make it worth paying extra for the Blu-ray version of this movie.

watch the bonus features where the people who lived through this tragedy describe how they like the movie and think that it accurately describes the horrors that they lived through. don't buy into others reviews that bash this movie just because it had a love story in it. it was an amazing movie in my opinion and i would watch it again.
the blu ray quality however doesn't seem to really shine in this movie. i had the regular dvd and there really wasn't a whole lot of noticeable difference in the visual quality. maybe rent it first to determine if it's worth buying to you.
