Movie synopsis

David Sinclair (Alan Boyce) is a healthy, popular high school student. He has a caring girlfriend, a gift for both classical and contemporary music, and a loving family. Then one night, he takes his own life outside the biggest party of the year. The tragedy tears apart David's friends and family--not only are these loved ones bereaved, but they also profoundly puzzled by David's fateful choice. The individual most upset by the tragedy is David's best friend Chris (Keanu Reeves), a troubled near-alcoholic who already leads a reckless life. David's death, some worry, might be the incident that finally pushes Chris over the edge. One of Reeve's first starring roles, PERMANENT RECORD is a sensitive, powerful exploration of teen suicide and the devastating effect it has on those left behind.

Permanent Record

I saw this movie back in high school. I loved it then and now. You can't go wrong with Keanu Reeves in my book. This is a touching story of a well liked teenager, seemingly no problems, commits suicide, and how his friends deal. It makes me remember that no matter how tough you think you are in high school, you are not invincible.

This is an unforgettable movie

This movie, Permanent Record is probably one of Keanu Reeves first movies. He is my favorite actor. I'm slightly disabled and do not get out alot so I really love movies and movies with Keanu are wonderful. He is one of the best actors I've ever seen close to my age, 47, so I recommend ALL his movies to everyone.

This movie is a life changing, emtional movie. It is one of Keanu Reeve's first little known movies. I have searched several years for this movie. Most everyone who watches this movie has some emotional reaction to it.
It is a movie that takes you back to High School and the issues that occurred while you were there. It has an unexpected twist. You have to watch to feel the intensity of this movie. I knew in 1988 that Keanu Reeves was a star to watch, and I was right.
