One of the Greatest Ever Made

Created: 24/04/07
To many the Beach Boys are a joke of a band but this is a horrible misconseption since the Beach Boys revolutionized what an album could be with this one and later what a song could be with Good Vibrations. This album predates some of the greatest pieces ever made such as The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Revolver, The Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street and Pink Floy's Dark Side of the Moon. This album elevated rock and pop music to the level of art and it pushed all their contemporaries to see music as an art form.

This album is almost perfect there really are no weak tracks. The album works best when listened to as a whole though. The way the song change from comlete joy to pain and sorrow is remarkable. Just one thing, it might take a couple listens before one is trully able to apprecite this album but if you give it a try and dont give up on it the first two or three listens you will be in aw when you see its true genius.

Every single song in this album has its charm. The music arrangements are so perfetly done that is hard to believe it was all arranged by one man, Brian Wilson. Had he been able to keep things together and finish Smile, the unfinished masterpice that was suppost to be release after Pet Sounds, The Beach Boys would be side by side to the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and every other musical genius of the 20th century.

Stereo Pet Sounds...wouldn't it be nice?

Created: 06/10/10
I am a hard core stereo person...if a recording was made in multi channel or multi trsck, it should be mastered and released as such...this music sounds so complete in stereo you have to wonder what Brian Wilson's aversion to it was all those years..the early Beach Boys surf albums were all in stereo, but when the music started getting thick, everything was pushed out in single track. I cannot say enough about the superb remixing done for the Beach Boys catalog. Not only is it overwhelming that this can be done with new technology, but in fact now offers an alternate performance of the band's songs, much like the Beatles and Stones did with their separate mono and stereo takes. This is close to the greatest music of my life, and stereo only makes it more enjoyable

do not pass go, do not collect 200, if u do not have brian wilson and the beach boys pet sounds in your cd collection as the american counterpart to the sgt. pepper album. every song is good. the creative songwriting, the signature vocal harmonization, the layers of sound, chicken skin chord shifts, brilliant arranging, it's all there and this was back in the 60's. don't believe the critics or naysayers, hear it for yourself - this is truly a milestone in the evolution of pop/rock n roll...

That's Not Me

Created: 08/05/07
OK, everybody has an opinon about the Beach Boys and most people have a bad opinion. You can't blame people for laughing at them. The name itself brings to mind pretty boys in speedos frollicking on the beach. But, if you can get past that, and if you can get past the one or two silly songs the oldies station plays, you will discover that they made some fantastic tunes. This is by far their best album and any serious music collector who's not afraid of getting beat up by their friends should own it. 4 Stars.

Beach Boys Pet Sounds Remastered

There is a reason why the Beatles found this compilation of great songs by Brian Wilson to be one of their favorite albums and actually claimed it influenced many of their songs due to the genius of Brian Wilson....This album is a timeless collection that sounds as fresh as it did when it was released...
