Movie synopsis

The story of Peter, Paul and Mary offers a fascinating insight into the early 60s folk/roots movement that sprung forth from New York City's Greenwich Village. This PBS special offers a history of the band, with recollections from all three members of the group. Some amazing archival material has been unearthed to supplement the musings on history, and the historical impact of political upheavals on the group's music is fully explored. An incredible tracklisting offers many of the band's best loved songs, including "Mary Had A Little Lamb," "Leaving On A Jet Plane," "River of Jordan," and many others.

Growing up in the 60's, there was often a Peter Paul & Mary record on the family turntable. I didn't know that there was a deeper story behind the music, from the history of the group in the folk genre, and carrying on a tradition of social activism. PP&M were a white group that sang movingly before Martin Luther King's I have a dream speech on the mall in Washington. PP&M always had a message and delivered it with beautiful music. This DVD tells that story well. I saw it on PBS and just had to buy it for my parents.

For the Peter, Paul, and Mary "groupie", as I am, this DVD is a must. Not only does it give their history and all their great music, it connects their history and their music to the significant political events which occurred during the 60's and 70's when they were most popular. I have loved watching it with my two daughters, who are in their 20's, and who were raised listening to PP&M's music but were unaware of the political connections and those events in our country's history which shaped me.

I LOVE this dvd! Showing Peter and Paul and Mary as they are today. Mary has and is dealing with leukemia, thus the weight gain for those that aren't aware. But her voice is as great as always. They sound the same..haven't lost a thing in the aging process. They still have it...loved them in the 60's and love them now. Standing up for what they believe has not changed...they are still supporters of what is right, or should be right, in the world.

THis DVD was excellent. I would recommend it to everyone. The DVD was brand new and came to my home in just a few days. THsi was a gift to my husband for Christmas and he loved the music and the history. Thank you!

This DVD was very informative and entertaining. We have always been PP & M fans, but didn't know many of the facts included in the DVD. I had seen snips of the DVD on PBS and truly enjoyed seeing it in it's entirety. If you have enjoyed the music of this trio you will love this DVD. Price was reasonable as well!!!!
