Philips DVP642 DVD Player

Ok. I have to admit, the thing is awesome. I haven't found a disc that this thing won't play. VCD. DVD MP3 CD movies saved as data files....you name it....and its DivX compatible....I love the thing....I think the only thing i would caution against is being swindled into paying more for a "region free" version of this product. because all tey do is enter a code for you or send you the instructions to do it yourself with your remote to play any region discs. with just a little poking around on the internet you can find this code for free...just google "region free code DVP642" and i'm sure you will get many hits. and also it automatically comes ready to play both NTSC and PAL formats without any codes or alteration. So buy wisely....dont pay more for what you dont need to pay for....other than that L*O*V*E****T*H*I*S****D*V*D***​P*L*A*Y*E*R!!!!!!!!!!

The Philips multi region DVD player is excellent. It plays all but region 2 (PAL) discs as well as Music CDs and Read/Write CDs and DVDs. The Audio output is weak and noisy emitting electronic noise when not playing sound. Picture quality is as good as any non HD unit I have seen.

I bought this DVD player because it plays many different medias well I got it and I am Beyond Happy this player plays more than just DVDs it played the ones i made of our family videos on the computer it plays burnt cds everything, i can put multiple movies on a dvd and play them! Now my home movies are more organized and it saves on space! Instead of 100 discs in my family movie album I only have 20! There are so many more things that you can do! this is an awesome product! I defiantly recommend! This is better than my regular dvd player which only got used not even 1/2 as much!

This player will play ANYTHING recognized by windows media player and will read files from BOTH CDs AND DVDs. Some DIVX players will not load DIVX files from a DVD. This is the best player you can get for such a small price! I've bought one for myself and a few for others. You can obtain movies in DIVX format however you may and then burn 6 or 7 on 1 DVD! A movie is roughly 700MB and a DVD holds 4.7 gigs. If you are wondering if an 8GB DVD will work with this, it won't. I tried. But I have burned multiple seasons of shows such as Seinfeld, South Park, Family Guy, and I can usually fit 2 whole seasons on 1 DVD! I cannot express enough how great this product is. It pretty much enables you to take any media files from your CPU and play them on your TV. DIVX quality is usually just as good as DVD quality as well. You cannot tell the difference. A++++++++
