Philips HD7810/60 5 Cups Coffee Maker

I knew the Senseo coffee maker from my time in The Netherlands.
First thing I did here in the US, was buying a Senseo machine on eBay.
The creamy, strong coffee the Senseo produces is exactly what I like to start my day with.

I even bought an extra machine for at work in my cube, so I can enjoy the caffeine the whole day if I want to.

This little machine is perfect for quickly brewing 1-2 cups of delicious coffee. Having read that it was noisy, I was pleased to find that it didn't seem loud at all. I also purchased the Coffeeduck refillable pod holder which works very well using espresso grind coffee and deposits foam just like the prepackaged pods. Maybe it's the foam or the fact that each cup is freshly brewed, but coffee from this machine simply tastes better than that from a pot. I highly recommend the Senseo coffee maker.

I bought this OLDER model Senseo because the newer ones have been redesigned. I was originally going to purchase a brand new one, but noticed that there were a very LARGE number of negative reviews on the newer models. From people who had never owned a Senseo before, and from people who had owned one in the past and purchased a new one (I fall into the category of having owned one previously).

I discovered several things. One being that Senseo is no longer owned by Philips, Sara Lee has taken over the brand. And after Sara Lee took over, the machines have be redesigned a bit. If you have owned a Senseo previously, you probably recall that there is a metal piece where the water comes out with a plastic ring around it. In the newer models, this has been replaced with plastic rather then metal. So the coffee, as many people reviewed, now has a plastic taste to it, reportedly no amount of use or cleaning makes it any better. That is the main reason for the bad reviews as who would enjoy a nice cup of plasticy coffee? Whether this redesign came about because of the recall, or Sara Lee simply wanting to make more money buy replacing metal parts with plastic (and no change in purchase price) I don't know.

However I do know that I LOVE Senseo. If you are a first time buyer I would definitely recommend this model over the newer ones. (Old model numbers start with HD, and the newer ones are SL, if you need an easy way to be sure that you really are buying a previous model) This is an excellent single cup machine and I will definitely be sticking with it. I know that I just won't ever buy the current SL models over the older HD. I can only hope that another redesign is in the future!

My glas coffeept broke, a new one would cost almost as much as a new machine, so I remembered the Senseo machine from Germany, a machine which brews coffee on an individual need, it needs no pots and you don't have to brew a pot full which gets bad after one hour. The advantages of this Senseo machine are, the coffee is brewed fresh, when you need it, you can differ the strength of the coffee milder or a bit stronger as a person likes his coffee, you don't have to replace expensive pots and when you buy a coffeeduck for it you don't have to buy the coffeepods, use even organic coffee with it or the brand you like.
It is practical and works fast in one minute you have a fresh brewed coffee,
hot and to your taste, individually. It is a great machine and is small in size, you don't need a lot of space on your countertop. I had lots of machines, but this is the one, no more experiements because I found a good one.

My husband loves this coffee maker. It is so easy to use and makes a great cup of coffee. The pods are a little pricy but really worth it. He loves it so much we bought on for all the dad's for Fathers Day in our family and hubby is on his second maker becausde he wears it out. When we have company they always want a cup of coffee even when we offer to go out and get the other kind of pricy coffee(SB) they tell us no they want one from the Senseo. Once you have one you will be hooked!!!
