Nice little machine
Created: 25/06/09
Smaller and lighter than my previous portable DVD player, this player has been able to play anything I've thrown at it so far, including Region 0, 1 and 2 DVD's and mp3 discs. The picture is bright and clear, although it has a little trouble with rendering subtitles sometimes. The analog volume control allows finer control of the volume from disc to disc, and the sound is better than I have heard on previous players. The included ear buds are funtional, and the included car adapter/charger is very nice. The remote can be a bit finicky if not pointed precisely at the IR receiver but otherwise works as it is supposed to. The onboard rechargable battery will last roughly 2 hours as clearly stated in the documentation, so no nasty surprises there, and it charges fully in a reasonable amount of time. The operations lights and ports are clearly marked and easy to understand. Just carefully follow the directions in the documentation, and you'll be satisfied with the results, as I am.

Great 7" Screen DVD Player w/remote, for the Price!
Created: 28/03/09
I bought this 7" dvd player because I needed something portable and inexpensive and not stationary like my dvd players that are hooked up to the tv. The price was "right" and it did everything I needed it to do, plus it came with a "credit card" size remote control, so that was also a real "plus". It also came with a "bonus" game player with 15 games in it, so that definitely affected my decision...*S* So, all in all...this dvd player was the best that I could find on Ebay or in the stores or other internet sites...AND...it had FREE SHIPPING!!! That's always the "icing on the cake" for me and my decisions on whether to buy or not buy...*S*. There was no way I could go wrong! The only thing I didn't like about it was the volume control. It was too low and I had to have the player real close to me, like a foot or so away. But I found that using a headphone set, the volume was extremely loud and I had to turn it down to a comfortable level in order to listen to it, so that corrected that problem; I'll just use a headset. LOL I would definitely recommend this dvd player to anyone.

Philips Portable DVD players

This review focuses on the robustness of the hardware.
I have a couple of these DVD players, and compared to most consumer electronics today, these are tough pieces of equipment. Like the energizer bunny, they keep on going, even after severe abuse. They have endured several long car trips, being sat on in the couch, being tossed across the room, being frequently dropped, being covered with food and drink, and they still keep on going.
Good work, Philips!

Philips Portable DVD Player is Excellent! We love it.

It is a solid little unit. We took it on air planes with just the battery power. We have plugged it into a standard wall outlet, and we have used it with the car charger in our car for several long trips in the car. It works great. No problems. Flawless. Easy to use and the picture is nice and clear. Sound is good. My wife, I and my kids love it!
Good job Philips!
