Can I be Frank? I think not.

It follows the journey of Sally Beth Roe as she tries to escape her past and slowly overcomes her constant struggle to discern the Truth. Also told is the story of another small town, similar to that of This Present Darkness and called Bacon's Corner, and a resident named Tom Harris. His kids are ripped from his home by Child Services, his job at the local Christian school is compromised, and the religious freedoms of every believer in the world are threatened in a lawsuit that could create a freedom-destroying precedent. Seeming to have no connection with other events at first, a young police officer, Ben Cole, is convinced what is being brushed off as a suicide is actually a murder, and ends up losing his job over the issue... which brings him to the side of the embattled Christian school. Caught in the crossfire is a little girl who's been forced into a curriculum of "meditation techniques" and "inner spiritual guides" that control her moods, attitudes, and actions, the little Amber Brandon, and her mother Lucy who realizes this lawsuit and the people who are "helping" her may be much, much more than she bargained for. Before the paths that Sally Roe and Tom Harris [and the others] are on collide, the Ashton Clarion editor and his wife, Marshall and Kate Hogan (from This Present Darkness), make a return appearance as veteran fighters in this war against the powers of darkness that threaten freedom of religion everywhere. As the story unfolds, the lawsuit and its participants are soon locked in a struggle of ethics versus non-ethics, absolutes versus relativism, right versus wrong, and those with interest in this battle are shown to be even in the highest places of government.

Piercing the Darkness

Though this book was written in 1989, it touches on a subject that is pertinent to us today. That is, the secular indoctrination of our children by schools. This book has some of the same characters as "This Present Darkness" but can be read before it, more of a spinoff than a sequel. The human, angelic and demonic characters all play a part in a law suit against a Christian school. This is a true spiritual warfare battle, similar to "The Screwtape Letters". I loved this book because it deals with a very real situation through cliffhangers, suspense and twists. I could not put it down until I was finished.

this book was introduced to me through a friend. i love fiction and fairytales and i love god but dont belong to any one church. this tale is an easy reader, and the story can be taken more than one way....my grandmother was worried that i was imagining little demons dancing around my head all the time. really it encouraged my hope and faith that when i send out a prayer there is someone listening and it will be answered and we are certainly here for a reason. i liked the book, i would like to get more of his books and others like it. the only downfall to christian books is that you cant by them anywhere. in fact, i think you have a better chance of finding occult and witchcraft, etc. first. thats okay mind you, just think other books should be readily available too.

I have always loved Frank Peretti's style of writing. He tries to be as accurate as possible by doing his research. I read this Present Darkness which is basically the prequel. Some of the characters are in this book as in the prequel. The concept is the same as the first book. Evil demons and the Heavenly Armies (angels) are at it again in a struggle to save the townspeople from the demons threatening to invade their souls and their lives. Excellent!! People, listen up! If you believe in Heaven you HAVE to believe in Hell. That's where demons come from. If you believe in angels, you HAVE to believe in where they come from and that is from Heaven. They really are in Heaven with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. You can't separate them. Lucifer was the angel that got thrown out of heaven with his merry little band of cohorts because He wanted to be like God. Ain't happening....EVER!!! These are evil angels (demons). Ok, so read the book, you will love it. Wanna go one better? Read the Bible and look up demons, Satan, hell, angels. It's an amazing book!!
