Recommending this game isn't enough. It HAS to be a MUST HAVE for anyone with a Gamecube/Wii Console!
Why you ask? Well, like I said, I spent alot of time trying to find a cheap and good copy, I gave up, it's such an incredible game that even the worst condition copy worths alot on ebay.
I firstly played it back in my childhood, I got addicted the first time I played it. So innovative, easy to play, and fun at the same time. I wanted it for myself.
So I tried to buy it back then when they were supposed to launch the Wii Version, unfortunately that never happened for NTCS versions. So I just bought Pikmin 1, and yea it was awesome too, yet I felt the sequel was alot better overall. I kept asking my friends if they were selling a copy, none of them knew the game.
Well my friends thats the main reason this game can be expensive compared to others, there were such few copies that sold back then, that Nintendo stopped making them, which is a shame when they make a MASTERPIECE like this.
Its Genre its RTS, Real Time Strategy, yes it sounds like a horrible genre, BUT it has alot of meaning in this game. You control your little Pikmin and beat up all the giant monsters, watching how each little fella does its best after throwing them towards the enemies, just feels good, IT FEELS GOOD!
Also the addition to treasure hunting, instead of finding your lost rocket pieces, made it even fun to play. That is because you can find the craziest or the most normal items, and watch how they name them with funny names. From a Battery to a "Game & Watch".
They also implemented 2 new types of pikmins, which added a whole new depth to dungeons since all 5 (including the other 3) have their abilities: resistant to fire, to water, electricity, poison, and one that is 10 times stronger and havier than the rest. Challenging puzzles will always be in this game, since the strong points of some Pikmin are the weak points of others. Its more a survival game thanks to this point, since you have to plan how to beat a boss or plenty enemies in seconds, without losing many or any pikmin at all, since you never know when you'll need them.
Even if you finish the game, you can pick up a family member or friend to play with. Not talking about Co-Op, talking about VS!! Grab a friend, make your army and beat him, or drag enemies to them to make them do the dirty work. Ambush, Front Attacks, Defend, depends all on your strategy!
IF there is someone that doesn't LOVE Pikmin 2, I bet him/her has actually some bad taste... since its one of the best (if not #1!!) of all Gamecube titles.

Great innovative game!

The Pikmin games are the most innovative and original games I've ever played. Captain Olimar is back in the sequel and now he has a partner, Louie. Their job is to search the planet for artifacts and treasures that they can sell to pay back a debt. They do this with the help of the pikmin, which are the small creatures that are native to the planet. You must direct the pikmin to search for items, fight off enemies, solve puzzles, and much more. Pikmin 2 has added several fun new features that improve on the orginial game including 2-player battle mode, 2-player cooprative challenge mode, two new types of pikmin, and larger new areas to explore. This is an easy and fun game to play so younger players will enjoy it, but at the same time, it can be very challenging to solve all the puzzles and complete the game so experienced players will enjoy it as well.
Bottomline: Pikmin 2 is a great strategy game and so unique that you'll get hooked. If you like strategy games then you'll definitely want to try Pikmin 2.

Pikmin 2 is totally rad!

Pikmin 2 has excited me ever since I ripped off the plastic covering. You control Olimar and Louie, two cadets sent from a far away planet to a planet much like Earth to salvage objects to pay a debt on your home world. Shortly after landing on this strange planet, you happen upon some very peculiar plant-like creatures called Pikmin.
Pikmin come in as many as 5 colors: red, yellow, blue, white and purple. Each color of Pikmin have their own attributes which you must find out along the way. The Pikmin help you find, dig up and carry various "treasures" and carry them back to your ship for them to be analyzed and stored. Many obstacles and enemies block Olimar and Louie from the treasure. Luckily the Pikmin have leafy heads with which to batter the obstacles and defeat the enemies.
Call upon the Pikmin with your whistle, they will follow you. Throw the Pikmin at enemies or do a swarm attack. Command them to pick up the treasure. Olimar and Louie can be separated to do different tasks.
But how do you get more Pikmin? Easy! Just kill some flowers and enemies and have the Pikmin take them back to their ships. The ships will consume them and shoot out some Pikmin seedlings. Have Olimar and Louie pick them out of the ground and you will have more.
Your time on the planet is short. Olimar and Louie can only be on the planet during the day. When night comes gather all your Pikmin and store them on board their ships and take off into an orbit around the planet. Any Pikmin left behind will be eaten by the creatures that come out at night.
How many days it takes for you to pay off your debt is up to you. Take your time and have fun. There are so many different things do to, it is almost too much. There is so much more I want to say about this fantastic game, but you'll just have to find out for yourself.

Pikmin 2 Excellent!

Pikmin 2 improves upon the original Pikmin game by giving you many more options, more fighting places, and more pikmin types, purple & white, and the most interesting thing of all, a 2 player battle mode.
Playing against another human is much more exciting then the computer monsters generated in pikmin (1) as there are several different strategies you may elect to test in battling for a win.
Pikmin 2 also comes with a new array of nocturnal creatures. Some are quite entertaining, for example the fat rolling bug that flattens your 'min' , and the spider like thing that drops bombs on you. As far as game play, the Pikmin are smarter than in Pikmin 2 and pick up objects without as (much) direct commands needed.
I like this game and I like Super Smash Bros.
Enjoy it!

Pikmin 2 More of the Same good fun!
Created: 17/04/10
Half puzzle game, half plat-former this is a fun friendly game! My husband is a hard core gamer and I am a more old school Mario type. We have found common ground on the adorable Pikmin series. The makers of this sequel learned what many others should, that if your original game is awesome, make more of the same! With slightly different levels. This game takes that brilliant idea and runs with it.
Purple pikmin and white pikmin are introduced in this game, as well as new powers for the yellow Pikmin. The general premise remains the same--collect objects and fight bugs/plants, however the obstacles and the story line are different. There are two characters in this allowing you to double team the Pikmin action.
It is much more easy to figure out where to go and where to find pieces than the original. While Pikmin one was by no means hard, it was certainly a more challenging puzzle, than this, it's far more simple sequel. Still a good game, a good buy!
