Product Information
Pilotwings was one of the launch titles for the Super NES, and Nintendo used this game to not only show off the system's brand new graphic techniques such as Mode 7, but also to show how these graphic effects can offer gameplay that just wasn't possible on any other system at the time. Pilotwings features many different aerial challenges, each using a different airborne craft that controlled and handled wildly different from each other. With its refreshing non-combat approach to the genre, this is arcade-style flight gaming at its finest.

Pilotwings - SNES

Created: 16/06/08
First off, for anyone who might not know, Pilotwings is a flight simulator of sorts, where you get to fly a light plane, rocket belt(jet pack), hanglider, skydiving, and even some military helicopter missions.
You're basically a flight student and you need to acquire certification by doing a series of lessons. Just try to not screw up too much, the instructors are very rude!

For the price, why would you not buy this game? It can be found for very cheap and is a lot of fun. Sure it's not the BEST game out there but it is a lot of good fun, although it can be frustrating at first. The graphics are pretty amazing for the time I guess, putting Mode 7 to good use. It's not a very fast-paced game, very family-friendly.

Bottom line is, if you want a fun game for cheap, get this game!!

Fly plane fllly... I said fly.. FLY NOT CRASH DX

Created: 09/05/09
I was watching a review of SNES games awhile back and saw this on the countdown and thought it looked interesting. Never had seen it before so I decided to pick it up.

It's mostly a flight simulator, in which you fly planes, control as you're in a parachute, or control yourself while in jet packs (if there is any more I haven't gotten that far).

It's challenging, but not ridiculously hard. Everything is possible, and some people will think its pathetically easy while some people will have a hard time (like I did at first xD) But it is fun, the controls are good, it's all very doable.

For the time, the graphics were not that bad, everything is distinguishable, so you aren't looking at like a big glob of indistinguishable pixels and calling it a plane. A lot of people are kinda like X_X when staring at old graphics nowadays but, this isn't bad.

It's really fun, and if you're into flight simulators you'll probably love this :) Or you just want one of those games that are fun but really require no super high level of mental capacity to play, this fits the bill too (you know, like when you're zoned out and just want something fun XD).

Classic Flight SIM that is very addicting!!!

Created: 08/01/07
Pilotwings was introduced to the world in 1991. Being one of the Super Nintendo's launch game, it was developed to show of the Super Nintendo's new MODE 7 graphics. Take part in a real-life interactive environment from a host of aerial crafts: Hang glider, Bi-Plane, Rocket Pack, and skydiving. There is also special levels such as a combat helicopter scenario, as well as bonus stunts. The graphics displayed on Pilotwings were state-of-the-art for its time period and the one of the first games to give you a sense of realism in a flight sim, as you get a complete range of movement in all environments.

If you have played this game before you will agree that the first time you played it, you were hooked and strived to make 100% on all levels and land on those moving platforms for the bonus's. Being able to be fully involved in a game is what all producers want everyone to feel while they play there games, and this one did just that, a total game package!

Still, The best! Thrill Of Flight!

Created: 28/03/08
You don't have to be an aviation enthusiast to enjoy this game. Just be a vintage game lover like me. Enjoy the thrill of flying from the comfort of your armchair! Many modes to choose from. Great for the whole family. The graphics are great for a vintage game and it's always reasonably priced on ebay. I consider this an over-looked and under-rated gem of a game.
One thing though, it's addictive, you may find yourself spending more time on it then you planned on.
I rate this game 5 stars, Add a extra star if your an airplane type.

Precision Required

Created: 07/10/05
I bought this game because I thought it would be cool to experience the sense of flying. Turns out it wasn't such a great experience for me. It takes quite a bit of expertise and precision to control the aircraft simulations. The control pad wasn't very helpful either.

I think that there are probably people out there who can maneuver the flight simulations with some precision. For those people, this game would probably be alot of fun. I don't think the average person would get much satisfaction out of it.

Just a word about the graphics. They were nice and quite impressive. They help add a very convincing sense of flight.
