) I wanted to learn to speak enough Spanish to converse in at least a limited with people I meet that are native Spanish speakers and limited in English. I have only spent about 2 hours so far with the Pimsleur product, but I am very happy with it at this point. The words do seem to stay with me even days or weeks after first learning them. The repetition and pronunciation pointers work very well for me in recalling the meaning. A number of words I had never heard before seem well-impressed in my memory. I will continue as time permits, but so far it appears to be far better than a rote memorization. This is the natural way to learn by listening and speaking conversationally.

) Far better than another language instruction audio that I tried. By the third disc, I was already way ahead of where I left Spanish in high school. I bought the course to communicate with construction crews that speak zero English. I complement the Pimsleur with the book "Learning Construction Spanglish" which has been a great help and has many helpful suggestions in remembering words and achieving basic communication both in and out of construction. Both are highly recommended. I did not hear very favorable reviews about that very heavily advertised expensive language course, but this one was used by a co-worker and a friend who can now communicate adequately.

) I bought this product because I have I bought a business with a lot of Spanish speaking customers. I love the fact that it's 100% on cd's because I spend a lot of time in my car. The only little flaw I've seen is I think it's from a little bit different region of Mexico than near southern Arizona so I've already been told a couple of the words and phrases are a little off but everyone knows what I mean. I've already recommended this product to many people. And actually I rented one from the library first to try it out. I had also rented several other types from the library that involved computer work or reading or work books and didn't want any of that and the Pimmsleur was the only one I found that didn't require any of that.

I'm familiar with other Pimsleur language programs including French and German and they are excellent.
This was an opportunity to purchase a brand new complete language program including Spanish I, II and III at a substantial discount.
In some ways I prefer the tapes, like this particular program, over the CDs because they are easier to pause, rewind and listen to a segment that you would like to briefly repeat without starting from the beginning.
