More questions and ansers
Created: 07/12/07
I got my Ping Anser putter quite reasonably priced on eBay after scouting many models for a while. I still wonder why there is such a big price difference between the comparable original Anser that has no Scottsdale imprint and the one that has. Probably the Scottsdale model is limited in quantity and sought after by collectors around the world.
One of the unique features on an Anser putter is a cut-through line underneath its sole that I don't see on other non-Ping putters that I own despite their similarity in shape to the Anser. I guess its inventor, Mr. Karsten Solheim, named his putter "Ping" because of the sound it produces on ball impact. However, some newer Anser models do not seem to have that feature. It could be useful to request the seller the photo that shows the putter's sole if you intend to have it.
I have to accept that for me Ping Anser's club head (with manganese bronze) weighs more optimally than other putters using different materials that make them feel too heavy or too light. That is another uniqueness that makes the Anser stand out from the crowd.
Overall, I am very satisfied, and so should anyone who has experienced it.

Ping Anser, Excellent Feedback and Feel
Created: 07/07/08
I recently purchased a used Ping Anser. I have been playing with a cheapo Wilson Anser clone for years and had a lot of trouble with speed and consistency. With the Ping I know as soon as I hit the ball if I hit it "right" or not, the slot cut in the head gives a ton of feedback. If I hit it right the speed is usually very close and the ball goes where I aimed it. There isn't a lot of hop and backspin on striking the ball. If I hit it on the toe or heel it makes an awful sound, feels dead and usually comes up way short and off line. I like that, others may not.
Currently I do not see myself buying another putter for a long long time, if ever. If I can't putt with this club, it's probably not the putter.

Ping anser putter

Well, the anser was my first ever 'expensive' putter when I was 14. Fantastic classic that even the great Scotty Cameron likes to copy. Not quite the feel of a Scotty Newport but thats because its not carbon steel. However, the sinkability factor is amazing along with the unique sound the anser makes it the best putter in history.
I have still got my original anser, laying dormant at the moment because compared to a lot of the modern putters just feels too light.
I have however bought a 'new' anser, a phoenix from the flames as it was in a bad way, very neglected. After spending about 6 hours working on it and eventually getting the ball bearing out of the shaft (be warned never break a ping shaft!!!) Not the easiest shafts to remove) it looks amazing.
A mirror finish anser fitted with true temper stepless shaft and a red Winn AVS grip well and truely brings it into the 21st Century. It will soon be listed on Ebay for someone to enjoy and love just as I did 13 years ago when i bought MY anser.

An "Anser" to your putting woes!!
Created: 14/07/06
In my 40 or so years of golf, I have NEVER had a putter, or putted better, than with the original Anser Ping putter. The feel, the distinctive sound, and what matters most, the sound, of the ball dropping into the cup. The worst day of my life, golfwise, was the day the head came loose, and from that day on, my confidence was lost, by thinking the head wasn`t lined up with the grip. I`ve tried over 20 putters since that time, and never had the same feel, touch, or confidence. I now own 3 of these gems, but due to health problems, practice putting, and waiting for my son to reach the age when he knows, and feels what a putter he has to scorch the greens with, will I enjoy the magic of what this stick can do. You can find a nice one on e-bay for around $50.00, so get your wallet out, and make the best golf improvement purchase you can make!!

Ping Anser Putter is premier
Created: 25/05/06
I recently purchased a refurbished PING ANSER Putter on E-Bay, because I had tried several dozen putts at Golfsmith with its "absolutely shameless" Super Expensive EXACT COPY, the Scotty Cameron Newport Beach Studio Stainless model, a used $200.00 buy. What a GUN! My Ping Anser Putter, a super shiny face balanced beauty, with its great feeling Ping MAN grip is a superlative putter. At $50 used, completely shined up and polished, its refurbished gold (manganese bronze) brillance outshines even the very pretty Cameron studio stainless. Mine is a vintage 85029 "Karsten" Phoenix model, with the old black "balanced" ping shaft band. Its worth more than the Cameron for sure! But, really, its the excellent FEEL upon striking the ball that I love. This old war horse helps keeps my stroke smooth, simple, and solid. This beautiful golf tool also helps keep my head and lower body still, as I don't move much until I hear that satisfying "TICK" and start rolling the rock. What a confidence builder! Get one, and be the envy of your foursome! (And start sinking more putts!)
