Product Description
A head start off the tee is something all of us long for. And the Ping G2 Fairway Wood Golf Club makes this longing come true. The G2 driver has a variable-width sole with added weight down low making the Ping G2 Fairway Wood Golf Club ideal for soaring shots. Further, the Ping fairway wood's stainless steel head featuring a symmetric design and hosel positioning promote pre-shot confidence which goes a long way in bettering your shot. The deep-face design of the Ping G2 Fairway Wood Golf Club expands the hitting area, improving overall forgiveness. The G2 driver also has a progressive groove pattern which helps add spin, which in turn translates into more height and softer landings.

About the Manufacturer
Engineer and inventor Karsten Solheim got his start as an engineer working for GE in Ithaca, New York. His passion for the game set him on a journey to create a better putter. At the time he thought he was simply building it for his own personal use, but in 1959, Karsten’s ongoing garage experiments yielded an innovative putter he called 1A design. This putter had very distinctive design qualities, among them, a unique tone at impact, a sound that would echo throughout the game for generations to come…“Ping. The Anser putter began a long and proud history of truly innovative equipment design throughout Ping’s entire product line (ultimately resulting in over 400 patents) that has set Ping at the top of the list of golf design and manufacturing companies. The company is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Karsten Solheim has passed away and his son John has taken the helm.

PING G2 7 wood - Little Stick, Big Rewards!

Created: 09/08/06
My PING G2 7 wood on TFC100 stiff graphite came used from an E Bay win ($74) and in not as good condition as every other club or set I've bought there for myself, The Queen and our 12 yr. old grandson. At first glance I was intending to send it back to that E Bay outfit in California who sold it as an 8 of 10 with its dull and scratched crown, paint chips and sand-blasted face right after pounding a few angry balls at the range...and now, 3 months later it's still in my #1 bag along with my EBAY-bought (not from those guys) Nike Ignite 1-3-4-9 woods, snappy and shiny looking as they are. (Check my other reviews) I put the bench buffer to work over a lunch break and fixed the face and some of the crown, re-gripped it, furniture-polished the shaft and it is no longer quite as disreputable looking. In fact, my grandson is eyeing it and he soon shall receive, when my Ignite 7 wood arrives next week!

My first and lasting impression is that I might like the club better with a regular shaft. My swing speed is currently 106-110 with this club when I'm swinging well. The ringtone and high, hot, flat-top flight off the face is pure PING wood (I've hit a few Ping woods over 12 years, believe me) and I get more distance airmail by 15 yd and seem to get a much longer roll (+/- 8-10 yd) on most shots when compared to my Callaway Warbird Heavenly 7, a club I've hit for 3 years now and still love dearly. The Queen has one of those, too, and that's her go-to club on the 140-150 yd approach. I'm spanking this Ping 7 on those little 170 -190yd 2nd shots into a big green and liking the results a lot. You will, too.

What I Like:
Head shape, fantastic half-moon line-up design. This club is LONG when well struck. I can work this club left, right and straight easily: it does respond to good swing fundamentals with no surprises.

Distance: Anywhere from 160yd on a 3/4 punch to a 210yd full-out smokin' rip from a ball-sittin'-tall lie. Fantastic for gouging it LONG out of the hay (1"-2.5" stuff)and not bad off the thin. It's light feeling from the sand but they come out flying nonetheless...

What I Don't Like:
The PING TFC100 stiff is like a fire poker in the waggle and on the strike which is why I'd prefer the Regular shaft. I have stiff graphite irons and a couple of stiff drivers so it's not that. I'm now used to the flex and feel of the regular shafts in my other (Nike) fairway woods so maybe my opinion isn't valid. The grandson clobbers the heck out of it as if born to it and The Mrs. doesn't seem to mind it, though she's kept her Callaway Heavenly 7 in the bag. She hits the same Ping G2L 3 wood off the tee and from the fairway and would like it if I'd buy her some more Pings.
This club doesn't work for me chipping from just off the green. Head's too light-feeling, shaft's too stiff but that's not why I bought this wood.
Cute little blue and white headcover shape and design, you think? NOT!!! Darn thing's always cocked and about to pop off when I'm on the move. I have a Taylor 2.5 Tour carry Bag on a 3 wheeler (put a block of stiff foam between the foot activator and bag bottom, works great,no busted hardware to fix later, no barrel-rolling nonsense either!) so I can see that cover making its getaway right in front of me. Hey, put a sock on it, you PINGSTERS!!!! My grandson's liable to lose the darn thing right off anyway but there's a plastic bag full of odd covers including an AFLAC goose in the garage for him to use!

I have a 3,5 and now 7 wood the low profile and weight of the head makes it so that I hardly ever have a poor shot when I use these woods. I hit my 3 wood 225 straight almost every time. I had Adam's Tightlies before winning a G2 3 wood at a golf tournament. I had to have others.

This 3W Does The Job

Created: 09/03/07
I bought this Ping G2 3 Wood on E-Bay about 3 months ago and have played about a half a dozen times since then. I am a beginning golfer (I have only been playing for about 8 months), but did not have any trouble hitting this club. My experiences with this club are very good and my only negative comment is that this wood is very high priced if you buy it new or used at the local golf stores. However, I got a good price on a very nice, hardly used club from golf_connection on Ebay. When I first started looking at clubs to purchase, I tried almost evevy model of every major manufacturer and I found that I am very partial to Ping and the G2 clubs in particular (with Taylormade irons being a distant second). I had been playing with an old Wilson set and then a set of Tommy Armour clubs and my game improved immediately when I bought my G2s. If you decide to buy this particular club (or the G5 or Rapture, which I found very comparable to the G2), take advantage of the variety of lie angles, shaft types, grip diameters, and shaft lengths that Ping offers (I prefer a -1* (red) to -2* (orange) lie angle, standard grip, standard length, and stiff graphite shafts for drivers and woods and standard graphite shafts for irons). My experience is limited, but I doubt that any golfer would be disappointed with this club!

Review of latest purchase.....

I purchased the G2 fairway wood because I play at all kinds of golf courses. More than not you don't use your driver as much as you would like to. This helps complement the long irons in those situations.

I love the club. I can hit it great and straight.

It is the last piece to solidifying my golf club set which are all in the Ping G2 family.

Ping golf clubs

I am just a normal weekend golfer and I was using Calaway Hawkeye big bertha driver and fairway woods. I first bought a 11.5 degree Ping G2 driver. The feel of the ball coming off of the face was amazing. At that point I knew it was time to make a change. Since then I have sold my Calaways and replaced them with the Ping G2 14 degree 3 wood and a G2 17 degree 5 wood and also bought my son a complete set or Ping irons. There is a reason you pay the extra money for Ping clubs and that is QUALITY, QUALITY, AND QUALITY. No need to say any more. Thank you for the opportunity to express my opinion on this product. Carl
