Movie synopsis

Walt Disney's second full-length animated feature is a timeless, breathtakingly beautiful classic. Based on an 1800s story by Carlo Collodi, it stars Jiminy Cricket (voiced by Cliff Edwards) as a vagabond insect who spends a rainy night at the shop of toymaker Geppetto. The Blue Fairy brings a marionette to life after Geppetto wishes on a star for a son, and Jiminy Cricket is appointed the new boy's conscience. He has a devil of a time keeping up as Pinocchio is willingly lured through various forms of temptation, the most frightening of which leads him to Pleasure Island, where he drinks, smokes, and is almost turned into a jackass. This sequence, as well as Pinocchio's brave rescue of Geppetto from the belly of a whale, ranks among the most memorable in the history of animation. With such songs as "When You Wish Upon a Star," this is about as magical as cinema can get, a sublimely beautiful coming-of-age story for all to treasure.

This movie is a classic. All about making good choices and what happens when you make bad choices. It is beautifully redone and looks great for being Walt Disney's second animated feature. The songs are so beautiful and heart warming as well. I love this movie and am so glad to have finally added to my movie collection. If you love DIsney, you must have this classic.
"Prove yourself brave, truthful, and unselfish and someday you will be a real boy." -The BLue Fairy.

I love it and so does my grand-daughter!!

Love This DVD, 2009, 70th Anniv. Ed. of Pinocchio!

I remember seeing the reissue 1993 version. Had to buy because I got a good deal plus, I Love Disney films. You know the premise. Puppet wants to be a real boy and gets into mischief. Hangs out with the wrong crowd. But still becomes a real boy. 70th Anniversary Platinum Remastered edition has a great Menu and the picture is crystal clear and cleaned up! Awesome quality and worth buying and ditching the VHS edition. But if you don't have the DVD version, then it worth having so that you can get rid of your VHS version. Don't forget to do so because you know Disney, they release the DVDs and then back into the vaults for another 8-10 years! Enjoy!

One of Disney's best forgotten gems!!!

Created: 15/01/10
Unlike a lot of kids movies these days which are goofy or boring, I can actually sit down and enjoy this movie with my kids!
I grew up watching this movies so it also brings back
a lot of great memories for me.
The music is cute and story line is entertaining. I think this is a classic Disney movie that many people forget about, but is one of their best!
Other Disney movies that top the list for our family are Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Jungle Book, Bambie and the non Disney movie The Land Before Time (classic animated Don Bluth Dinosaur movie, remember sweet Little Foot?) and Thumbelina. Thanks to ebay I can add all of these to my collection! Just be sure when buying a movie from ebay to read reviews of the seller and make sure they aren't selling a boot leg video.
