    Product description

    Synopsis
Perhaps the world's most famous beach bum, and certainly one of the most financially well-set, Jimmy Buffett lives a life that's the envy of his many fans. His loveable everyman persona is displayed to good effect in A PIRATE LOOKS AT FIFTY, a combination of memoir, travel book, and mid-life crisis antidote that's as endearing and entertaining as the man himself. Buffett's combination of salty common sense, easygoing humor, phenomenal good luck, and the ability to turn all of these into palatable songwriting material have earned him the freedom to live, if not exactly as he pleases, at least with enough freedom to give himself the 50th birthday gift of loading up a plane and flying around the Caribbean with a full complement of family and friends. He writes about the resulting adventures and past events in his own life, both hilarious and poignant, in a dryly humorous, semi-rueful, head-shaking fashion, unsurprised by his own failings and constantly amazed after each escapade that he's gotten away with it yet again.

For the Pirate In All of Us

This is a fun book - whether you're a Parrothead or not. Following Jimmy Buffett on his 50th birthday attempted circumnavagation of the world is a joy. Told with the wit and wisdom infused in Jimmy's lyrics this book is a fast paced adventure leaving you with a good idea of how a modern day wanna-be-pirate lives. Father, rock star, ambassador, and multi-milionaire Jimmy relates to us all. Jimmy's music is not very complicated nor are his stories - and just like one of his concert shows - A Pirate Looks at Fifty is just plain fun!

    A Fun Read!

    Created: 20/12/10
I normally read more serious stuff. I thought I'd take a break and see what Jimmy had to say. Glad I did! It's an easy read, and a fun read.

This really isn't the story of a rock star, it's about a guy that loves not only music, but fishing, sailing, flying--and life in general. He has logical reasons for the things he does.

If you like to fish, read this book. If you like to sail, read this book. If you like to fly, read this book. If you want to hear some good stories, read this book.

There is a little salty language, but it's not bad.

A funny and honest look at the life of Jimmy Buffett from his own particular harbor...Jimmy will make you laugh and cry as you reflect back upon your own life....some of it magic, some of it tragic, but we have all had a good life all the way!

Have always been a Jimmy Buffett fan, heard him play at a house down the street from me several years back. The book just drew me nearer as a fan of his, making him all the more 'human' that he is. Very interesting and full of detail. I liked his fiction so I knew I would like this. Feel free to peruse at your leisure and enjoyment!
