Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (Blu-ray/DVD, 2011, 5-Disc Set, Includes Digital Copy; 3D)

The "Pirates" series is getting a little long in tooth, but they always seem to squeeze more non-stop, slam-bang entertainment out of these films. This one deals with the search for the fountain of youth. Johnny Depp is the anchor, but it is the scene-stealing Geoffrey Rush as Barbosa that holds your attention. This film adds Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane as Blackbeard; capable performers that help propel the storyline along. Excellent Blu ray picture and hi-def audio. The 3D effects are good, but there are a lot of night scenes that make them murky. Good for several viewings and well worth owning.

As far as 3D experience goes with this movie, I'm giving it a 3.5. The sharpness, the colors, the depth perception were all great. I expected more in your face 3D moments which I don't really recall there being maybe one or two. I felt like I wanted much more in your face swords and sails and water but the movie just didn't shoot for those scenes. They filmed it in 3D because they could. I didn't want just depth perception, I wanted stuff flying into my face! I wanted amazing colorful and weird things to feed my 3D eyes. It's a pirate movie for cryin out loud and not just any pirate movie so for that reason alone they should have gone all out if they were filming in 3D. I thought of beaches and ships and gold treasure's falling out of my 3D Samsung TV but after watching for a while, I knew that they didn't really write for that. I think the script was pretty much a go before they really decided to shoot in 3D so script changes just were not in the cards. Anyway, It's still a great movie at 2.5 hours and you should have it in your collection. I highly recommend this movie if you start watching it early enough in the day

Movie not as good as the first 3, but was still a fun watch. Why am I forced to buy a "package movie" with 5 disc?? I have upgraded to 3d and do not want or need the other disc, or the expense. Each disc should be packaged seperately and sold an a price that each individual can afford.

Got this 3D DVD for my son for Christmas. The 3D was great. We had the video already but spent the extra money to go ahead and get the 3D version when we got our son a 3D TV. If you have 3D capability this is great!

All I got was the DVD no blue ray or anything else
but of what I did get it was a desent movie all the cast is back with a few twist. It was a good flick.
