    Publisher's Note
A shocking murder shatters the picturesque calm of Pennsylvania's Amish country -- and tests the heart and soul of the lawyer who steps in to defend the young woman at the center of the storm.... Plain Truth The discovery of a dead infant in an Amish barn shakes Lancaster County to its core. But the police investigation leads to a more shocking disclosure: circumstantial evidence suggests that eighteen-year-old Katie Fisher, an unmarried Amish woman believed to be the newborn's mother, took the child's life. When Ellie Hathaway, a disillusioned big-city attorney, comes to Paradise, Pennsylvania, to defend Katie, two cultures collide -- and, for the first time in her high-profile career, Ellie faces a system of justice very different from her own. Delving deep inside the world of those who live "plain," Ellie must find a way to reach Katie on her terms. And as she unravels a tangled murder case, Ellie also looks deep within -- to confront her own fears and desires when a man from her past reenters her life. Moving seamlessly from psychological drama to courtroom suspense, Plain Truth is a fascinating portrait of Amish life -- and a moving exploration of the bonds of love, friendship, and the heart's most complex choices.

The discovery of a dead baby under a pile of old blankets in Aaron Fisher's barn sets off a scandal in Amish country and an investigation that could implicate Fisher's eighteen-year-old daughter.

Jodi Picoult - An Amazing Writer

    Created: 07/04/08
I am an avid reader and usually read anything I can get my hands on - newspaper, magazines, my kids books, etc. I came across Jodi Picoult's book, Nineteen Minutes, about a year ago and since then I have been totally hooked on her books. She is an amazing writer that keeps you intriged right until the end. Her books have a little bit of everything: mystery, romance, a surprisingly twist or two. She also has a way of making you think about not only the victim but the alleged perpertrator too and you find yourself questioning what you feel. I am 3/4 the way through Plain Truth and, again, it is wonderfully written and very interesting. I've got my husband reading one of her books right now and he loves it. I highly recommend all of Jodi Picoult's books!

    Plain Truth

    Created: 01/04/07
Plain Truth was selected reading for my book club, Savage Beauties, not a novel I would have purchased or selected on my own. I found it a bit hard to get into in the beginning, but after 50 pages or so I found the characters genuine, interesting, and engaging. It's one of those books that you hate to see end! And, during the reading enjoyment, I learned quite a bit about the Amish culture--an added bonus.

    Books on e bay

    Created: 10/12/07
I have been purchasing books on ebay by one author (Jodi Picoult). I read one of her books and was hooked so much I wanted to read everything she wrote. So buying the books on e bay was the best way to find all of her books and get them at a better price than in a book store. I've been bidding on the titles I wanted as I am reading the last one I bought. That way the next book is on it's way to me as I am finishing reading the last one. I have two more to go and been fun. All the books I've received have been either new or next to new. Once I pass them around to friends and family to read I may resell them on ebay !!!
