Album Notes
Queen: Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon.Additional personnel: Elton John, George Michael, David Bowie, Montserrat Caballe (vocals); Wyclef Jean, Pras (rap vocals).Producers include: Queen, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, David Richards, Mike Moran.Recorded between 1974 & 1997. Includes liner notes by Jim Jenkins, Jacky Smith, Andy Davis, Phil Symes. All tracks have been digitally remastered. With Queen officially enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Hollywood Records reintroduces the band yet again with the release of Platinum Collection, Vols. 1-3. While Vols. I & II are full of Queen classics you already know by heart, the third cobbles together odds and sods from the far corners of Queen's canon along with solo cuts from Freddie Mercury and Brian May. Opening with the operatic rock classic "Bohemian Rhapsody," it's easy to hear not only how this British quartet achieved the kind of global acclaim that ensured they'd be enshrined alongside the likes of the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. When they weren't dabbling in playful, '50s-flavored rock & roll ("Crazy Little Thing Called Love"), catchy glam ("Killer Queen"), or hard-edged funk ("Another One Bites the Dust"), Queen was capable of delivering heartfelt love letters ("You're My Best Friend"). The band's '80s output is equally intriguing, ranging from the hard-hitting "Headlong" to duets with David Bowie ("Under Pressure") and soaring movie anthems ("One Vision"). The third volume features more movie themes ("Princes of the Universe"), Freddie Mercury covering the Platters ("The Great Pretender"), and cameos by contemporary artists like Wyclef Jean, George Michael, and Elton John.

Great Collection! Queen Rocks like no Other!

Created: 26/05/09
What can I say there is no other band like Queen! I started listening to Greatest Hits II as I have heard all of those on I many times before and wanted to hear a softer side of Queen. These were my favorites but after listening to Greatest Hits I and III, they are all great. The music has so many layers and is so rich. There is no one like Freddie! I would highly recommend this collection of songs. I found myself missing a few of my favorites but found them all on Made in Heaven so I had to order that one too.

Queens Greatest hits

Created: 19/02/09
This is a staggering compilation of music. Listening to each disc is like traveling back in time. Music that makes you your heart rate double. Freddy Mercury and his band mates revolutionized Rock N Roll with and operatic twist. Songs included are "We will rock you", "Under Pressure", "Who wants to live forever". This set has 51 songs. Owning this set reminds you to turn off the TV, and computer. And just listen to some music.....loudly

For all Queen fans this collection of all three volumes of the bands greatest hits is a must. Though a majority of the world owns Queen greatest hits Vol 1, it's Volume 2 that brings a smile with some of their less popular but era appropriate songs. One Vision (Iron Eagle), and Who Wants to Live Forever (Highlander) are both great examples. Radio Ga Ga and I Want To Break Free also received significant radio play in their day, but it's Volume 3 that is the true gem of this collection. Duets with Elton John and George Michael, along with the famous remake of The Great Pretender make this collection a must have!!

Wonderful collection of soft-medium pop rock!

Created: 29/09/10
A must have for any cd collection! One of the best soft-medium to harder rock collections I've ever heard put together in one set. Queen's music is some of the best ever recorded in their era. Easy listening ballads to some harder rock jams. Excellent!!
