I bought this to replace my grandaughters broken camera. For the money, it's hard to beat. Too soon to tell about the durability, but otherwise seems to be a pretty good camera.
Frankly, It seems a lot of complaints about this camera stem from people who don't seem to read the specs before ordering or the instructions before using. I'm not trying to be a smart alec, I've made the same mistakes.
Most cameras under $100 don't come with memory cards and only have a few mb available for pictures, unless it's a promo deal or sale. The spec stated only that software and usb cable were included. The wrist strap and batteries were freebies.
As to the camera shutting down, I had the same experience after the first picture. Tried the battery thing, no luck. removed memory card, still no luck. Tried pushing the card in a little harder and it works so far. The card slot seems a little tight, that may be part of the problem.
Somebody mentioned "get a Nikon". Buy a new Nikon at this price (if you could), and you'll really be ticked. Nikon makes fine cameras, especially in the Pro level. Now, I have been taking photos since the early 50's. I have used many types of cameras, had a darkroom when I was 14 in 1956. The worst camera, for the money, I ever used was a Nikon Coolpix that I gave my wife for Christmas about 6 years ago, paid $230 for it. Four AA's, good for about 25-30 pix. Picture quality ok, not great. Shutter release broke after less than 100 pix, warranty out, in the back of the closet since. The name doesn't guarantee anything.

The Camera is pretty good for the price, but overall it's not the greatest camera ever. Slow picture-taking, weak zoom, thick and heavy.
That said, for the money it's a pretty goo deal and the Polaroid gives it a semi-classic feel to it.

Overall I recommend it for the penny-saving, not even close to professional photographer.

haven;t had to use it yet, bought it for vacation, and because it was such a good price. what i did like most about it was it uses 2 aa batteries, not rechargable like everything today so you can leave it alone for a year, put batteries in it when you want and use it. what i didn't care for was the color of it,would have prefered black or blue.

Cute camera and convenient to carry. It doesn't always work though. When it doesn't turn on, I have to open the battery compartment and remove the batteries; slip them back in and try again. It sometimes takes a couple of trys. When it does work it takes so-so photos. When it's hooked up to the computer to download photographs it's difficult to turn on, and no . . you can't leave it on. It goes off automatically when it's hooked into the computer. Trying to turn it back on is the same routine; sometimes you have to remove the batteries to get it working again. I've tried a new set of batteries; same routine. My usual camera is a Nikon. I bought this as something convenient to grab and easy to use when I'm in a hurry. I use it for my ebay store downloads. For that, it's fine. If it were my 'always' camera I would be trading it in.
