Ansell Adams photography
Created: 02/03/07
A wonderful reproduction of Adams work allows both new and expert photogrpahers to view landscapes in concepts not thought of - lens use, light filtration, angle manipulation, time lapse. It also allows photographers/ viewers to see how landscapes can be bought to life using black and white pictures. Using some of the techniques he used, colour photographs can be intensified. Although visually pleasing, I was disappointed that more of Adams personal anecdotes were not included- a lovely coffee table book is the best way to describe the book if you are not into photography or a source of inspiration and aspiration to photographers. Nice pictoral history of the USA for every household nonetheless.

The Portfolios of Ansel Adams (1977)
Created: 05/09/06
Ansel Adams' work is timeless. If you pick up his work from the 70's or any other set you will find the ageless beauty captured in his work. He had an eye for nature that most of us miss. His studies in black and white are refreashing compared to the sometimes over colored photos we are introduced to these days.
At times, when I sit quietly with his photos I long for the days when the scenery matched. However, through Adams' eyes we can hold on to that moment in time; all is not lost.
In my world Adams was a master at what he did. We all see the same thing just a little differently which makes this book even more fun. If your taste runs in this river, come on in, the water's fine!
