) Trevor Wye is an acknowledged master of the flute, and an accomplished pedagogue. This volume is but ONE of the many fine books he has written and compiled, full of excellent exercises and tutorials for the mastery of the flute. No, there is no substitute for private instruction, but having an organized approach to guide one through etudes, exercises, and pattern work is invaluable. I am a career teacher of flute, performer, and competition judge, and use this book with my students - and even for my own practice, since and coach will verify that ALL work is about fundamentals. No serious student of the flute should be without this volume - and although Mr.Wye deserves every penny for writing it, my getting deal on eBay made it even sweeter!
