    Synopsis
In 1831, horse racing brings together a noblewoman in disguise and a gentleman with a previously stained reputation. After Lord Russell Dalloway vanishes in an attempt to stop a race-fixing racket, his independent-minded twin sister, Lady Priscilla, goes looking for him, armed with the knowledge that the illicit gambling scheme has something to do with the horse-breeding register. Unfortunately, to get a look at the register, she'll have to gain the permission of the its official Keeper, reformed rake and confirmed bachelor Dillon Caxton, who believes himself immune to feminine wiles. This is the 13th entry in the Cynster series of historical romances.

    Another Good Cynster Offering

    Created: 26/04/06
It would seem that Stephanie Laurens is finally running low on Cynster relations to chronicle. This one is about Demon's cousin-in-law Dillon Caxton (who first appears in A Rogue's Proposal). I was surprised by how good it was as I've been a little disappointed in a few of the newer Cynster novels. Laurens manages to mold Dillon's character and personality into someone likeable (a real feat considering his past). The only real flaw is the fact that Laurens seems unable to write a book without using the phrase "...and her lungs seized." That phrase is in every Cynster book--often more than once. She makes it to around page 70 this time without using it. Good characters, plot and pacing make this an enjoyable read, but I really wish she'd find another way to describe breathlessness.
