Prince: The Hits Collection (DVD, 1999)

I love Prince, but this collection was missing a few videos that could have made a big difference.

If you are a Prince fan this is a great collection of some of his greatest songs. I liked this DVD because it had the videos from the 80's or 90's and only one live version. I have been on the search for 80's music video's and not live versions. If you are looking for that this is a great DVD.

PRINCE Hits Collection Music Videos shows the sign of the times- way back from early 1980's, Purple Rain video is not on this and there was only 2 or 3 songs i recognized. Prince was young in these Videos and really tried to put out his sexaul vibe, not something you'd want your kids to watch, if your 18 to 28 you will probably like these videos but any older and you won't have the stomach unless you have a great sense of humor, its almost laughable and painful and as i have only one life to live i couldn't bare to watch every video all the way thru. I give Prince respect for his contribution to some great music but this video collect sucks balls.

Some of the best moments of my life were spent in the 1980's and the music & videos of that era were always enter twined into what ever I was experiencing. My first Prince experience was "Little Red Corvette" and then "1999" on MTV and its those two music videos that caused me to buy this DVD, to relive a time in my life that I enjoyed a lot.

The quality of this video is wonderful. The Purple One is quite the showman, and this video displays the superb quality of his early work. (Although, you will realize today how "corny" some of the early videos were. But at the time, remember, they were cutting edge.) The video collection itself is a good example of the efforts put forth to give his fans a nice grouping of videos to watch by its producers. It reminds you why he is called the "Prince." It's always a blast to see how he looked when he was young and all the changes (in clothing and hair styles, etc.) that he went through over the years. He was sexy then (and a fabulous songwriter/guitarist/musician) and he continues to be as sexy and talented today. It's a good collection with both standard music company videos and live performances. Really enjoy it!
