Project Alf Extra Cute and Worth A Watch
Created: 21/01/09
Great movie, it is so cute and We are Fans of the Furry Little Fellow.
Charlie Sheen, Miguel Ferrer, William O'Leary, Jensen Daggett, John Schuck, Ed Begley Jr.and Ray Walston interract with Alf as he turns Area -51 upside down and causes so much fun it is hard not to giggle.
This movie takes place after Alf leaves the Tanners, they are put into the Witness Protection Program and are living out of the USA.
Also loved the Added Alf Keychain, Hubby has it on his keys...

Project Alf was the final movie from the Alf TV series. When the series was did not return the following season as planned it left us all wondering what happened. This movie tells us.
I was not too thrilled with the movie but a true ALF fan must own this movie. It made it seem the Tanners did not love him and other issues.

Finally closure on Alf...sort of.

The final episode ("Consider Me Gone") was intended as a cliffhanger. At the time it was filmed, NBC was still undecided as to whether or not the show would be picked up for another season. The cliffhanger format was intended to help persuade NBC to give the show one more chance, if only to resolve the "To Be Continued" ending. Six years later, the TV movie Project: ALF (1996) (TV) finally brought closure.
Unfortunately the lack of the original human cast, and poor writing, cause many fans to reject Project: ALF as part of the show's canon. It didn't capture the same spirit and charm of the original show. Without Willie and Kate (especially) and the original gang to play off of, Alf didn't have the same charm or wit.

Project: ALF

I loved ALF and I was really disappointed that it ended on a cliffhanger. I wanted to see Project: ALF when it came out, but I was out of the country at the time so I missed it. That being said, I'm glad I was finally able to see Project: ALF and it does give closure, but it was nowhere near as good as the series. ALF (actual character’s name was Gordon Shumway) was at his best when he was being totally self-absorbed, rude, inconsiderate, politically incorrect for the time, and throwing out one-liners. There are a few moments in Project: ALF where he does this again, but most of the 90 or so minutes show other non-original cast members and it really slows down during these periods. The original family is also nowhere to be seen. On the other hand, the scenes of ALF on the centrifuge were original and very funny.
If you were an ALF fan like me and you were left on the series ending cliffhanger, then you should see this movie and you'll mostly enjoy it; but be forewarned, it just doesn't have the show's original magic. And if you were never a fan of the show or you hadn't seen it at all, then you should take a pass on seeing it.

Not like the show

I actually didn't watch the movie, but my mom watched it with my kids age 8 and 10. My kids said it was too sad and insisted on watching something happy after the movie was over. My mom said it was too sarcastic and had innapropriate content - for example, Alf is looking for cats to eat at the kitty cat club which turns out to be a strip club. So if you are looking for something similar to the sitcom, this is not it.
