The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran (1973, Hardcover)

I first read this book, on or about 1971, once I learned that it was one of Elvis Presleys' "all time" favorite books. I loved it then...and cherish it now.
From the opening paragraph, Kahlil Gibran, invokes your spirit - touches your soul - and engages your heart. His words are like the freshness of a spring morn combined with the wisdom of a man...not of this World.
The Prophet is a well deserved classic and should be read, even more, by this generation. For it is a beautifully written book, and the drawings by Kahlil Gibran are wonderful and consistent with his words, that brings us back to a time when words not only meant something but were structured in a poetic rythmn.
Elvis Presley, contrary to many stereotypes, was a very spiritual/deep thought/introspective man who saw the beauty of The Prophet and took it with him...always.
The Prophet is a book that does not end when you read the last word. It does not end when you close the back cover. It stays with you, on many levels, and leaves a gift that encourages you to look at things...differently.
Kahlil Gibran I say to you, for all the World (or at least the EBay World to hear/read from me), THANK YOU for this book. It truly is a "gift", to everyone who reads it, that is from the greatest "place" that a gift can come from...ones inner soul.
I HIGHLY recommend The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran as it is a TREASURE that should be passed down, shared, appreciated, and beloved...always.

This is an absolute beautiful piece of work by Kahlil Gibran and his look at life. Almost biblical in his writing, his poetic pages are simply magical. This is a book you will keep and pull out again and again. I used one passage to read at my wedding. Simply beautiful.

I have read this book a hundred times and never grow tired of it. It has some wonderful teachings about life. It is a great gift idea for the person who has everything. It is a timeless classic and will keep you wanting to read more.
There is a chapter on marriage that has been read many times at weddings as the verses are so beautiful and are really well written.
Buy this book -you wont be sorry.

I had a copy for years. Lost it. Wanted it again. The inherent wisdom of the East is beautifully described in a simple, applicable, and loving manner. People on t he path of inner peace and harmony will appreciate the messages given in response to the questions of the students in this book. People involved in grief counseling, personal struggles, or nurturing activities will also find these messages helpful. As a pastor for 27 years, I found this material very helpful to me and calming to many of those who sought my suggestions about their issues of life.

This is the most beautiful piece of literature I have ever read, aside from the Bible, and few other great masterpieces. It speaks on a spiritual & emotional level unlike any other treasure I've encountered. A MUST READ!!!
This is the perfect book for a young adult taking off on the plight into adulthood, since it talks on all of the beauty of great character, love, and life in general.
