The Proposition
Created: 25/11/06
This is one of those movies that drew me right into it. From the first scene to the very last credit I was "involved". It is a very well written, superbly acted, beautifully filmed (in such a harsh environment), and wonderfully directed piece of art. The main characters are gritty with a violent edge, which is an honest reflection of life in that time and place, the Australian Outback in the 1800's. Yet they are sensitive with a strong sense of morality and justice, often acted out Prairie Style. The music, the cinematography and the whispered lines of poetry only add to the spiritual feel throughout the piece. This film does contain a fair bit of violence and swearing, so I wouldn't recommend it for younger audiences. Again, I loved this movie and if you want to watch a truly great film that stays with you afterward, then rent this one.

Australia's Outback! Three Brothers - One Must Die
Created: 21/09/06
This movie is set in the 1800's in Australia's Outback. Beautiful scenery in this movie. You will be touched by this movie! A local enforcer by the name of Stanley is trying to protect his innocent wife Martha and receiving pressures from Eden his Commander to bring order. The Locals are acting up and causing problems. Charlie is one of the locals and is caught in the middle between his two brothers, Mikey and Arthur. Stanley has given Charlie an ultimatum that if he wants to save Mikey, he needs to find and kill Arthur who they say is psychotic. This is how the movie came up with the great title of Proposition. This will be a keeper!

A Fantastic FIlm.

This is truly an amazing film which I recommend anyone over the age of 18 to see. It has an amazing story of good vs evil, and wrong vs. right, and the acting is some of the best I've seen as a whole ensemble. The director, John Hillcoat has a way of making these men look like the greasiest, dirtiest men you'v ever seen in this very authentic looking western Australian film. Great movie.

A jarring revisionist's western
Created: 30/09/06
Put the popcorn down and the kids to bed. Be prepared to be transported back to the wild west of the 1800's, outback style. Through the dusty Austalian landscape and the buzzing of flies, this is one of the most jarring and haunting films I've seen in some time. You can watch all the Hollywood fluffy blockbuster films you want, and will probably soon be forgotten. But a film like The Proposition will get under your skin and into your psyche. It is a cross blend of Eastwood's "The Unforgiven" and Peckinpah's "The Wild Bunch". This is a riveting piece of work.

How do you Choose, when it's kin?

The movie starts off with a bang! The shoot-out that issues is that of wild panic and trying to save lives. If you think you are going to be watching a traditional western you are in for a treat. The movie is more of a cinematic masterpiece than that of a fast paced action-western. Takeing place in the dessert of Australia you get a sense of the ruggedness of the place. How hard one must be to survive. This is by far a must see movie. It is one of the better movies i have seen this summer! At the end of the movie just sit back watch the credits and listen to the music. While reflecting on the movie you will get a very profound sense of a very different culture.
