Pump It Up: Exceed (game & dance mat) (Xbox, 2005)

This game is just amazing. I've played DDR and other rhythm games. Heck, I even make my own in Flash.

Unlike DDR and other dancing pad games, you actually have to "Feel the beat" to play this. I've tried "not" feeling the beat and it just doesn't work for some reason. The graphics are nicely done. The song choices are good (though I wish there were more english songs). But what really got me was the pad. Unlike the traditional dancing 4-button pads, Pump It Up has 5 buttons, with the arrows pointing diagonally.

Perhaps the only aspects of the game I didn't like was that the learning curve is insane and that the songs aren't rated in difficulty well enough. It took me quite a while to get used to playing, especially since they only had a couple easy songs (though even those were difficult at first). The difficulty of the songs weren't done too well either. I sometimes can barely finish a song with one level but ace another song that is several levels above it.

Overall, I would give it a 9.5/10.

This is one of the best dance games ever. Many people think this is a false copy of Dance Dance Revolution(DDR) but it is an original game made by Andamiro. There is currently two versions for the console game and it's for Xbox (Original) and PS2. PS2 has more songs but the Xbox version was promised song packs for the future. Currently, there is NO song packs for you to download on Xbox Live. The reason is that Pump It Up did very poorly in the US. And people who are concerned about compatibility issue with Pump It Up on the Xbox 360, the dance pad will NOT work. The game itself may be played if you have a hard drive and have a CD to load on there to play original Xbox games.The CD may be burned by yourself or you could purchase it for a simple price at http://xbox.com and you could also find information on burning it there. The game on the Xbox 360 however freezes sometimes so you will have to turn it back on. To prevent the problem try not to press the buttons once you finish a song. The game seemed too hard the first couple of times but with practice some songs became fairly easy. It is slightly confusing on what exactly one has to do to unlock songs and the "bonus stage" doesn't seem to do anything. All in all it is very good exercise which is the only reason why I purchased it.

I love it because of the tutorial and it's a very good and entertaining way of exercising and losing weight. I look forward every night to doing it unlike the other forms of exercise like treadmill or stationary bike that's boring. The only thing I dislike about it is why some of the music are locked and have to clear by going through another mode and passing a certain score. I guess that's the game part of it or maybe I haven't discovered how to work around it yet.

I had a plan that I was going to use this on my computer.

First of all, I ordered this product and xbox controller to usb adapter.

The dance mat(pad)'s quality was great and i think it won't be broken for a long time.

For people who want to use the xbox pump it up pad on pc, I will give you the tips.

1. Prepare a xbox controller to usb adapter and Pump It Up Dance Mat for Xbox.

2. Install the xbox controller driver on pc.

3. Get the program that makes your controller can type on pc like keyboard.

4. Get the Pump It Up PC Version.

5. On the program, config your keys as follows,
