Movie synopsis

From writer-director-actor Edward Burns comes this romantic drama about the necessity to reconcile with the past in order to move forward into the future. Brilliant novelist Patti Petalson (Selma Blair) may be on the verge of becoming the next great American writer but, at the moment, she's in a slump. As her marriage with her husband (Donal Logue) becomes increasingly rancorous, old flame and fellow successful writer Brian Callahan (Patrick Wilson) pops back into her life. Despite an initial mood of resentment between them, their love begins to blossom again and they must figure out if they were truly meant to be together. Meanwhile, their friends Michael "The Murph" Murphy (Edward Burns) and Kate Scott (Debra Messing) must deal with a past relationship of their own. Co-starring Dennis Farina and Max Baker (LIFE OR SOMETHING LIKE IT, CONSTANTINE), PURPLE VIOLENTS, like many of Burns's films, is a love letter to New York City partially in the tradition of Woody Allen.

For Edward Burns fans this movie is worth purchasing. The imagery of New York coupled with interesting characters and a good story line made this a must for me. For fans of Ed Burns' written and directed movies this should be in their collection. He has a flair for real life drama that most can relate to. I highly recommend this one for those folks out there who like good human stories.
