Album NotesLiner Note Author: Jacob Edgar.Illustrator: Nicola Heindl.Translator: Julien Massardier. One of only a very few compilations of contemporary South Pacific music currently on the market. The album includes bits from New Caledonia, New Zealand, Easter Island, Samoa, and Papua New Guinea. Instead of the more tribal, older musics that have been produced from most of these places though, this album focuses on the people fusing their respective traditional musics with worldbeat, contemporary folk, and the like. Musically, much of the album is casual, laid-back sounding with minimal accompaniment, perfect as atmosphere music for a lazy day. With the mix of old and new, but the primary focus on the new, the album may open new avenues for those who have yet to hear more than Telek's RealWorld album from a few years prior. At the same time, it may prove a bit Te Vaka-heavy for the casual listener as well. Give it a whirl, and it should describe itself perfectly. ~ Adam Greenberg
