Pyle- A Good Name

Created: 08/07/09
This amp in particular was bought to power four twelve inch sub woofers. Being a four channel amp, it seemed like the perfect buy. As in the description of the item, it's a four-channel, 2000 watt amp that only puts out 500 wats RMS (approx).

The features I appreciate about it-
-It's a very well priced amp for the RMS it puts out. About half what higher end brands cost for the RMS watts.
-The slim design is very minimalistic so space doesn't have to be a concern.
-Good thermal management.
-'RCA In' and 'RCA Out' ports are excellent for grouping amps! It's the main reason I bought from Pyle's Chopper series.
-Thermal shutdown saves it from any danger of overheating- asuming you have it in your trunk.
-LOW COST!

There weren't very many things wrong with it other than-
-I bought a 2000 watt amp and only got 500 RMS watts. I had to go from four subs to two.
-It's touchy. There is no voltage regulator built into the amp. If your ground isn't good enough, you can fry the it. These are best run on a closed circuit with a spare battery.

Overall this amp can be appreciated with the right speakers. I would not attach this to any sort of mid-woofer or tweet. The power is high enough to keep it powering the sub woofer category only. Try to keep the RMS of your speaker close to the 125 watts the amp offers per channel. You WILL get EXCELENT sound that way.

This is a good purchase and I would recommend the Pyle Chopper PLA4200 to any one interested in a low cost, mid-performance, sub woofer amplifier that can be grouped with others in the series via 'RCA Out'. Likewise for the rest of Pyle's Chopper Series amps.

4-5 A better amp, but not best.

-Peter A.
