Oky I guess?

Created: 10/07/09
I liked that the price was cheap enough was looking for a good 3d shooter was outbid on the games I wanted and settled for this one. It is an older game and my computer is older and looking at the system requirements thought that it might barely make it. Well it didnt run because I never installed the drivers for my card as I had to transfer my parts to another computer because the one I was useing finally died on me from damage from a rain storm, had to reactivate windows XP. Oky so I decided to install the drivers from the CD that came from the card and got that warning not to install them so I ignored it installed the drivers and what do you know! the game worked! only the game play was sluggish like playing in water my movement was to slow tried everything including installing the files for the monitor improved a little, think maybe I need updated drivers from MSI only there are none. So anyway been playing the game the way it is and what I mostly do is let my men in the game take the worst of it whereever I can in the game. Stop playing actually and have been playing a really old strategy game, gotta have a good 3d shooter and strategy game. been playing Star Craft if anyone remembers that? bought it second hand at the thrift store hehheh! My power supply gets hot when I play it. I really do need to get a newer computer.

Quake 4 (PC Games)

Created: 10/02/09
Quake 4 is the fourth title in the series of Quake first-person shooter computer games. The game was developed by Raven Software and distributed by Activision. Raven Software has collaborated with id Software, the creators and historical developers of preceding Quake games. In this case, id Software supervised the development of the game as well as providing the Doom 3 engine, now referred to as 'id Tech 4', upon which it was built. Quake 4 went gold in early October 2005 and was released on October 18, 2005 for the PC, and later for the Xbox 360 and the Apple Macintosh. A special DVD Collectors Edition also exists, including promotional material and the game Quake II with its expansions. The Xbox 360 version of Quake 4 is based on the Special Collectors Edition, and therefore also includes Quake II. Average game I'd say.

Back to The Roots

Created: 22/02/09
Quake IV is basically a more intense Quake compared to the first two with a more smooth and crisp graphical aspect. The weapons are very similar to the first two Quakes as well as follows the story continuing from Quake II rather than Quake III. I enjoy this more because Quake III was about multiplayer which was clearly meant to counter the monstrous Unreal Tournament games that came out at the time.

The environments are dark and gritty with the occasional trench warfare and vehicle operating. Classic enemies return and new abominations appear from every angle as you fight your way to the heart of the Strogg.

I purchased this game because I am a fan of the original Quake games as well as most game that Id creates like Doom. The only thing that could be a problem to some is the abundance of medics who heal you throughout the game. Other than that, the game is fantastic.

Mega Shooter Trophy Goes To Quake 4

Created: 03/12/05
Quake may very well take the title from DOOM with this revision to the super popular game. It engages you in 'seat of your pants' strategizing and decision making while thrilling with amazing next generation graphics. If there is a Shooter/Action/Strategy fan on your list - this will suit them well. But don't blame SSSIXXX when you don't hear from them for a week.

Very Exciting And Graphically Good Game

Created: 05/01/06
I am an owner of both Doom 3 and Quake 4. I love the games that ID puts out because the quality of them never dissapoints me. I must say, however, I enjoy playing Doom 3 over Quake 4. I enjoy being surpised by enemies and being attacked by them while trapped in a corner. In Quake 4 the enemies A.I. is pretty lackluster. Only one enemy actually charges after me (and is very tough to kill!). Other than that you will find yourself shooting at enemies who just stand in one place or strafe to the left or right on occation. This makes them pretty easy to kill and not much of a challenge as they are in Doom.

The game runs pretty good on my system. I have all setting's on high with 4x AA and achieve a constant frame rate of over 60 fps. In other games on these settings or lower I often get occational stuttering, however, in Quake 4 I get none at all. (X800 Pro, 1GB RAM, 3500+ AMD)

I have yet to play online with this game, but plan on doing so soon. From other review's I have seen on other site's, they have said that online in this game is nothing great but I will just have to find that out for myself!

I would recommend this game to any gamer looking for superb graphics and is a fan of FPS. If you havn't played Doom yet I would suggest trying it first before this game.
