the lens works well on the sony a200 dslr. the focus is sharp across the zoom range and the f-stop range is flexible enough to cover a variety of situations.

This lens, like all Quantaray products, is made by different manufacturers at different times. I have a copy that was made by Tamron, while others are made by Sigma. A quick way to tell which company made it is that Tamron labels theirs "LD," and Sigma labels theirs "LDO." The AF gear stripping problem has been associated with Sigma lenses in the past, but they seem to have fixed the problem. Tamron lenses don't have the problem, as far as I know. My copy is a nice lens, and the macro function is handy. AF hunts a bit, but for the price I can certainly live with that.

I was looking for a new lens for my camera ,,and being a beginner myself didn't want to spend a lot of money on a professional lens,,i got this for 80 dlls.,,and it does the job,my camera looks great and the quality of my picture it's even better.. I'm happy....

Internal Plastic Gears will strip and make the lens useless after a few years of moderate use. Glass is good but AF is a pain for telephoto (tends to hunt and refocus itself on other objects closer in frame). Average overall for a disposable lens.

I am amatuer and after testing this lens, I found it fantastic. I recently purchase a Sony Alpha DSLR camera and I am very happy to learn that Minolta Lens fit Sony's cameras. It works fine.
