Product Information
It's the year 2163, and the Bydo Empire has resurfaced with new plans to destroy Earth. Bydo's Mortiz-G doomsday weapon has the capacity to eliminate the fair planet for good, and you stand as humanity's last hope. To save the planet, you'll commandeer one of three awesome ships: the R9a, which boasts an energy-dispersing cannon; the Rx, a ship that features wave cannons, a time disruption corridor, a chain reaction missile, and a tentacle force; and the R13, which uses a lightning cannon, a photon missile, and a claw-shaped anchor force. The game's seven broad, detailed levels all contain Force power-ups, which attach to your ship to help protect you against enemy fire. The more Force power-ups you collect, the more deadly your firepower will be. You'll battle Mecha-Bydo warriors throughout demolished streets, a run-down energy reactor, a space fortress, and a ripple in time. Can Earth count on you to have the bravery and reflexes to save mankind?

Simply the best shoot-em-up game on Playstation 1!

    Created: 05/04/07
This is by far the best shoot-em-up game on Playstation 1, and one of the best shoot-em-up games of all time!

In this game, incredible 3D graphics and other improvements beef up the gameplay that manages to stay very true to the spirit of the R-type series.

Running at silky smooth 60 fps, with huge explosions and vibration support, this left-to-right side-scrolling shoot-em-up game delivers traditional R-Type gameplay. Depth is added by virtue of unlockable content such as extra ships, each with different extra weapons. Luckily the traditional R-Type 1 style ship that we all love from the old-school arcade machine is included amongst the selection.

New to the series is a smart bomb, blasting everything in sight, and a speed select button, allowing you to adjust the speed of your ship in mid-air.

This game is hard, but fair. I would say difficulty is on par with R-Type 1, at least on the default difficulty setting.

The game features mind-boggling, screen-filling mid-level and (mostly) oversize (e.g. larger than screen) end-of-level bosses that will blast you away - literally. And more: awesome under-water sequences, the occasional destructible background object, detailed particle and transparency effects, etc. etc...

Bottom-line: A must buy Playstation 1 game, worth even the high-selling prices of $20-$30 used, in my opinion!

    Best. R-Type. Ever.

    Created: 11/06/08
This R-Type title is worth getting disk alone. It is a fantastic shooter, and pretty much the best R-Type in the series next to R-Type Final.

It just has great gameplay, fantastic stages, big bosses, and great graphics for the PS1, an awesome soundtrack, and just an overall tremendous PS1 game.

It is a must for any PS1 collection, or any shooter fan, or any R-Type fan.

If you've played Einhander for the PS1, then you will love this title as well.

It is well worth paying $50.00 for the disk alone, you will get your moneys worth here folks.

Best side scroller shooter. Music awesome. Keep in mind if you're playing this on a PS2, you will need a PS1 memory card to save your progress.

2D series completely made over in beautiful 3D.

    Created: 09/09/08
Like all of the recent series updates, R-Type Delta spares no expense in the aesthetics department. The traditionally 2D series has been completely made over in beautiful 3D, sporting the kind of graphical polish one would expect from Square. Each of the game's levels is interestingly detailed and never feels repetitive like many of Einhander's staid levels did. In addition to myriad little graphical touches, R-Type Delta uses tons of effects and transparency to give the game an excellent sci-fi look and feel.

    R-Type Delta=Best in the series

    Created: 06/06/09
This R-Type is by far the best in the series. Challenging, and without all the hokey angle shifts that made R-Type Final so disorienting. If you are bidding on a copy to play, rather than collect, I can personally say that you will not be disappointed.
