Rat Race (DVD, 2002, Sensormatic)

If you want a movie that is action packed and will keep you laughing for 112 minutes - then you need to watch Rat Race! This movie is not new - made in 2001 - and most people have probably not heard of it. BUT, it is a DVD that you will want to watch over and over again!

It all starts out when six lucky people get gold coins from slot machines that say to contact the front desk. When they do, they are invited to the penthouse where a rich tycoon (played by John Cleese) challenges them to a race for $2 million dollars. Among the all-star contestants are Jon Lovitz, Rowan Atkinson, Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Seth Green. You will also see "Newman" and Kathy Bates playing smaller parts.

Some of the funniest scenes are an outrageous helicopter ride, the insatiable betting by millionaires, a bus full of women going to a Lucille Ball conference, a trip to the "Barbie" museum, and Jon Lovitz at a WWII veterans convention!

Also included on the DVD are Deleted Scenes, Gag Reel, Outtake Scenes, and an interview with Jerry Zucker. Most people don't take the time to watch these extras, but you will be glad you did for this movie!

So, buy this movie, get your popcorn ready, and prepare to laugh until tears roll from your eyes!!

Rat Race wasn't the best comedy of 2002, but it doesn't disappoint if you are looking for a few laughs. In the tradition of The Cannonball Run and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, this Jerry Zucker film never has a moment where a joke isn't being played out, or at the very least, set up. Yes, there are moments of overacting, but the characters are convincing and memorable enough to outweigh the heavy-handedness of the humor. Jon Lovitz, Rowan Atkinson, and the pairing of Seth Green and Vince Vieluf bring enough charm to their roles that you can simply sit back and enjoy the scenes involving them, unlike the rest of the cast. This is a great movie to watch with a large group of people -- usually the more people there are, the greater the laughs with this kind of movie.

This movie has an all star cast of comedy heros. This movie nobody saw in the theaters I didnt even see it till it hit the TV with full edit. This movie will keep you laughing at every step. The plot is nothing special its how the stars get to the end and all the trouble in between. I especially like the attention to detail where historically accurate items were needed they were provided now for a comedy thats exceptional. I have about 2000 movies about half are comedies and this movie is the funniest movie I own period. Best part of the movie is all the bits are true to life I can see myself doing everything thats in the movie, nothing is over the top or rediculous or unbelievable. I recommend getting this on DVD format there are no special effects worthy of Blu Ray. Lastly dont eat popcorn while watching this movie or you will choke when you laugh!

This movies is a remake of the older verse It a mad mad mad world. This move has a cast from the 80's like Whoopi Goldberg,John Cleese,even the guy that played Mr.Bean, and other's. This is a fast pace movie, make sure your pop corn is already popped you won't want to miss anything,the laughs keep coming with this one. However this one not for the kiddo's. I think most all that see this movie will enjoy it. This one's a keeper. Light hearted easy to follow action packed (not cars blowing up just fast pace fun).

Rat Race was the funniest movie I have seen in my life( well that year). It is undoubtly on my top 10 funniest movies. This original film shows how far people will go for money and with a bunch of all star comedians Rat Race is bound to make you laugh.
