) I've always had respect for Ray Charles but have not taken the time to listen to many of his recordings over the years. I was quite disapponted in the Genius Loves Company recording (in spite of its many awards) because I felt that many of the guest vocalists had no business trying to sing with Ray Charles..I felt that if I'm going to listen to a Ray Charles album, I want to hear Ray--period..So when this album came along, my longtime idol, Quincy Jones, wrote in the liner notes that this album was "one for the ages"...that was good enough for me. Ray's vocals on this recording are among his best and I'm so thankful they were saved from extinction...His versions of "Oh, what a Beautiful Morning","Crying Time", and "The Long and Winding Road" are my favorites but the entire album is a joy to listen to. I gave several copies away as Christmas presents and have received wonderful reviews from virtually everyone..I'm hoping alot of people will listen to it and experience the Genius himself..alone.. backed by a fine orchestra and singers.

) This CD will appeal to all ages. I love it. Old standards to new favorites ... all done with Ray Charles undeniable style and talent ... to the sound of the Big Band.

) This is the Best Ray Charles CD ever! Ever! I heard it on Accuradio while working in the office and went on eBay to buy it. Had to have this right now.
The way it was put together and the voices filled in and such, we heard the
whole story on NPR a few days later. Great idea, and I play this CD quite often
even in the car.

Some of the best Ray Charles you will ever want to hear . . . soulful, dynamic.
Basie's Orch is, as usual, outstanding. If you are a fan of either, this compilation is a must.
