"James Dean's good looks and devilish charm were trumped only by his affinity for fast living..."
Entertainment Weekly - Entertainment Weekly Staff (01/11/2002)

"REBEL was remarkable in telling its story from the point of view of the kids, exploding the image of the juvenile delinquent."
Premiere - Premiere Staff (12/01/2003)

"All three compelling core performances, director Nicholas Ray's symbolic, vivid use of colour and the film's pace make REBEL a still-cogent depiction of alienated kids and dysfunctional families."

Rebel Without a Cause

Excellent portrayal of a troubled teenager by a gifted actor whose life ended much too quickly (James Dean). Assisted by Natalie Wood (who also lost her life much too quickly) and Sal Mineo in his screen debut(again also deceased at a young age). Dennis Hopper's screen debut. chosen as one of the Top-100 American Films by the American Film Institute. An excellent DVD for anyone's collection.

Rebel Without A Cause even better on dvd!

Great classic film depicts teens of 1950's America! James Dean is ultra cool and delivers a powerful performance as Jim Stark the new kid in town who doesn't fit in. Fully restored version had to see it again and on dvd! The two best memorable scenes are the switchblade knife fight on the roof of the observatory and the car race scene over the cliff. This car race inspired a similar showdown in Grease. They don't make films like this anymore! A classic must see again and again!

This is a favorite movie of mine, and I discovered that it was not available at any of the local video rental outlets. I am teaching American History and wanted to show this film to two classes that have studied the 1950s. Despite it's age, they enjoyed the film and recognized the ageless conflicts that involve parents and teenagers, and teenagers trying to find out who they are. The acting in the film is good, the story is compelling with action and drama. This film tells us a lot of social history and it's plain good entertainment.

Rebel Without A Cause hit with todays teens in 2008 !

The high quality and the richness of the acting and the writing makes me return to this film time and time again. James, Natalie, Sal all build a timeless drama of teenage angst and love. A great movie to share with teenagers. This movie can lead to many familly discussions about familly living and familly problems.

As a boy of about 12 years of age I watched this movie about 6 times in the theater. I had every word memorized. James Dean is still mu favorite actor. The DVD was great.
