Great
Very different from "When I Woke." A bit more acoustic, but very fun and has good beats. Not one of their best albums but definitely worth checking out. Read more

Producer Jerry Harrison (no stranger to international influences on pop music) provides a steady hand in helping Rusted Root walk a fine line between hippie jamming and more exotic musical indulgences. Singer-guitarist Michael Glabicki's quavering singing style suggests a less-jittery David Byrne, while his bandmates are the equivalent of the talented multi-instrumentalists that populated mid-period Talking Heads records. The songs on REMEMBER range from the South African township guitar phrasing of "Silver-N-Gold" to the medieval-meets-Middle-Eastern textures of "Faith I Do Believe." With the band down to a six-piece, Liz Berlin's contributions have grown the most. Her heightened presence includes Ofra Haza-like vocal inflections on "River In A Cage" and pennywhistle on "Voodoo." Other band members add such exotic percussion instruments as dumbek and riq.

    Editorial Reviews
...a brilliant effort that's much more than the sum of it's prickly parts....the more you listen to the singer emote, the more like a Bono-level superstar he sounds--the guy's got charisma...

    Not for me

    Created: 06/05/07
I bought this because a friend with whom I have a great deal in common loves Rusted Root. Well, this is one thing we do not have in common. I expected tribal rhythms and chant-style singing, but this is almost undescribable to me. It just feels weird.
