Product Information
Indulge in the altruistic side by saving innocent humans stranded in a world of evil residents. It is in Raccoon city that the Resident Evil 2 video game opens up to when keyed into your PlayStation. In this Survival horror game you make your way through the bleakness, as Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield; humans in the land of zombies. In the accursed land, the T-virus- a biological weapon developed by a pharmaceutical company was used to mutate residents. As the benevolent protagonist in this Sony PlayStation video game, you scurry around with grenade launchers, machine guns and rocket launchers to attack those who thrash the survivors. The thrill of this Survival horror game is in exploring new routes and locations, solving puzzles and minigames like "The 4th Survivor", "The To-fu Survivor" and "Extreme Battle". Despite the alternate uniforms with revolver and guns if your character gets wounded, you can use the first aid sprays in this Sony PlayStation video game to heal them. The 'Zapping System', distinctive to the Resident Evil 2 gives new storylines and thereby new locations to play in.

a most worthy sequel to a brilliant game

    Created: 30/10/06
months have passed since the incident at the mansion. zombies have overrun raccoon city. nearly all escape routes have been cut off. two people unwittingly enter hostile territory, awaiting the fight of their life.

clair redfield enters the fray, searching for her older brother chris. leon kennedy, a rooker police officer, comes to town to start his new job at the RPD.
through a chance encounter, the two narrowly escape death, only to be seperated.

this game is on par with the original, due to the fact that capcom incorporated a brilliant idea: the ZAPPING system! it makes this one come very close to being my favorite RE, i'm still deciding. two discs deep, this game will keep you entertained for days. even after you beat it for the hundredth time, it STILL WON'T GET OLD! you'll enjoy this game for YEARS to come.

the controls are the same. capcom added a new feature this time; the ability to see your damage without having to check the item screen. your character will immediately show how much damage they've taken. fine- all goes as usual. caution- your character holds their aching body part and runs slightly zig-zaggy. danger- your character holds their aching part & limps HEAVILY and also at a snails pace.

the graphics are much improved, with EXTREMELY detailed environments, characters & effects. and also much more grotesque monsters.

the sound is still top-notch. every grunt, every groan, every brain splattered is clearly audible. sounds such as tapping claws of lickers, dripping blood, etc all set the bone-chilling mood nicely.

new to this installment are the additions of CG cinemas. beautifully rendered cutscenes which unfold the story. in a way, they're better than the human actors since they can do things humans can't (or would take an IMMENSE budget to do) such as mutate into a giant monster. the music is still perfect, always building up the suspense.

new weapons to be had, as well as upgrades. the handgun, shotgun, flamethrower, magnum & rocket launcher are back. new are the bow gun, spark shot, submachine gun and upgrades for the magnum & shotgun.

your characters will also encounter other people, two of which you'll play as as your stories entwine. an epic story of survival, set against the backdrop of a dying city.

the new zapping system (which sadly, dies after this installment), huge areas to explore, secrets to unlock & MASSIVE replayability make this game one HELL OF A SEQUEL.

Resident Evil 2 is the best survival horror game that I have ever played. It doesn't disappoint in any category.

Story-10 Zombies have taken over the town and you have to escape alive. Typical survival horror story, but that really doesn't matter.

Gameplay-10 The only problems I had with the game were getting used to the controls at first and the camera angles. But, once you get used to those there's really no problem. You have to traverse the town of Raccoon City solving puzzles and blowing away hordes of zombies looking for a way to escape. There are a variety of weapons ranging from a handgun to a crossbow to a grenade launcher. The weapons make the game extremely fun. The puzzles are fairly straightforward but you might get stuck on a couple. A lot of people complain about how there is too much backtracking, but I don't find it a problem. You can play as either Leon or Claire and once you beat the game it unlocks another scenario for you to play through. What you took or did in the first scenario affects what happens in the second one. Say, if you take the submachine gun and extra item pack in the first one, it won't be the there in the second one. There are also two secret scenarios to play through and you can also unlock secret costumes. There's one more thing that I had a problem with, though. Why would there be those kinds of statues and puzzles in a police station? I mean, if a cop needs to get to a room where he or she is not authorized to; do they put a medal in a slot in front of a statue and take the key? I don't think so. But, what are you gonna do?

Sound-10 I thought that the music really did a good job adding to the atmosphere. All of the sound effects in general were good. The moaning of the zombies, the footsteps, the fans going. All great.

Atmosphere-10 Just great. It provided plenty of scares. One moment you're walking down a quiet hallway and the next moment, a giant experiment busts through the wall. It keeps the game from getting boring. Just perfect.

Replay-10 Combine the A and B scenarios for both characters and the secret costumes and the secret missions with the sheer fun and you've got a game you can play over and over and over.

Overall, this game is worth whatever you pay for it. I can still play the game through without getting bored. Go out and buy this game if you don't have it.

    Umbrella Review

    Created: 22/06/06
With out a dout one of the best Resident Evils you can choose between either Leon S Kennedy or Claire Redfield. You must complete ther first scenario to unlock the second scenario which is longer and as a different ending to the first scenario. Also the second scenario you are chased my Mr X as early version of the Nemmis project. Each characters path through the game is also different as in Leons game you meet the spy Ada Wong and in claires game you meet Sherry Birkin daughter of William Birkin who was the created of the G - Virus. This game also as a great storyline and the boss battles are brilliant the Hunters that appeared In Resident Evil 1 are now replaced by Lickers that are zombies that have been infected with the T - Virus for a long period of time. Also you get access to the Mini - Game the 4th Survivor where you play as the only surviving team member of Umbrellas retrieval team that was sent to collect the G - Virus from William Birkin. This Mini - Game is very very difficult where you must fight your way from the sewers to the roof top of the police station. It took me over a year to do this Mini - Game it really is that hard. As for the main game you get a large variety of guns that wern't avaiable in the first Resident Evil like the ;Machine Gun,Blowgun, and the very powerful but hard to get Gatling Gun. There story line is also very good as it shows you how powerful the Umbrella Corporation is. This is probably to me the second best Resident evil. I Hope you enjoyed my Review and found it helpful, Thankyou.

    Resident Evil 2

    Created: 15/11/09
If you like resident evil games Resident Evil 2 is a must have. The game play is very similar to the first game. The graphics are much like the first game, but greatly improved with better character animation. You solve puzzles and shoot monsters. What could be more fun? The game comes with 2 discs, where the the game is almost the same on the second disc, you play as another character named Claire. You solve the puzzles in a different order, and there a few other subtle changes. This makes the game really good for a replay. This game can be scary at times, and sometimes seems more like a movie than a video game (in a good way) The graphics are good for a PS one game. Although the characters and zombies are choppy graphically, the cut scenes and the 3D rendered backrounds are beautiful and a definite plus. It has very unique camera angles, story line, graphics, sound effects, and music. When your character gets hurt, he begins to limp and is visibly hurt. This is an improvement from it's predecessor, where you would have to check the status of your characters health on the status screen every time you wanted to know where it was at.
Overall, this game is one of the best I've ever played, and if you're a fan of games where you solve puzzles or any games similar to this genre (games like silent hill, dino crisis ect) then this game is a must have.

    BEST Resident Evil

    Created: 14/05/09
I dont care what anybody says, i dont care how old the game is, i dont care how poor the graphics are compared to TODAY'S Resident evil games. RE2 is the best in my opinion.

You have TWO main characters that are both playable who both have stories of their own. it comes with two Disks one containing Leon's side and the other with Clarie's side. You can even the play the story backwards, so in a way, you can play FOUR stories.

they both have costumes you can unlock PRETTY quick in the beginning of the game. However the trick is, you can't really pick up anything, not even ammo until you've reached the police station and kill Brad. He will drop the key and you can take it to the save room, open the locker and get your costume. for leon, he has skull leather Jacket, which REALLY looks good on him. The other is a black wife-beater shirt, with an army hat i believe, and green jeans. Claire has some kind of.. i dont know how to describe the outfit but she looks better in her normal clothes, but she is given a gun along with the costume.

after you beat the game you can unlock some weapons depending on how your rank score is. you can also unlock a multi-player mode.

I liked how they had numerous places to explore in the police station. I know people would much rather go to a number of places, but the police station was creepy enough. i say 60% of your time will be spent there. There are parts that will MAKE YOU JUMP. there are creepy stuff in this game.

    goodness just buy it!!!
