Revengers Tragedy (DVD, 2004)

A futuristic reworking of a Jacobean tragedy of retribution in the vein of Baz Luhrman's ROMEO AND JULIET, REVENGERS TRAGEDY is set in northern England in the year 2011, after a comet has ravaged the land and ultra-violence has become the norm. London is ruled by an evil Duke who seized power 10 years prior when he poisoned the bride of his rival Vindici, subsequently banishing the Vindici family and relegating them to poverty. Now Vindici has returned armed with a plan to methodically and sadistically unseat the Duke and ruin his degenerate family. Timeless themes of moral corruption and revenge are played out on a stage of gritty, punk futurism and anarchic violence.
