Riverdance - The Best of Riverdance (DVD, 2005)

I have the Dublin performance and the Lord of the Dance. I bought this DVD for my sister. I love the dance. The coordination. The DVD is very well edited. It has a complete visual of all the performances. I am from Irish beginnings, though the accent doesn't exist in our family as it was lost in 1850. My family came here in 1830. I am still researching this. I can not dance. I enjoy viewing these dancers in their best performances.

This performance is so special to us that it is being given with a 10th wedding anniversary gift. It is so magical and mesmerizing. The first time I watched them on tv I was just passing by the set and was going out shopping. Well the show was so enthralling that I sat through the entire show without moving. We didn't get a chance to see it in person so the DVD was very important to us. I can't say enough about this, it is simply the best!

Exactly as the title states, I love dance shows. This is a behind the scenes planning of this spectacular stage show. The fabulous dancing speaks for itself. What I found interesting is how the DVD's producers melded several different performers doing one common continous dance. The dance starts with one performer or group of performers and as one watches the dance the performers change but the continuity is never altered. The Russian dance troup is especially entertaining. They typify the graceful and artistic athletism of the young Russian dancers one sees in the famous Moisyev Dance Company. Pure entertainment and the height of culture. Simply terrific.

It was almost as good as being in the theatre. The bonus is you can see their feet better on the DVD than live, but nothing beats the feel of the music in your chest in the live show. It was excellent and very informative about what each act meant.

I didn't like how the show jumped from location to location in the midst of a song. You watched 3 different locations at the same time, just kept flipping back and forth. It was mildly annoying.

Overall it is a wonderful opportunity to see up close this wonderful show.

If you enjoy great entertainment and want to see people that are very skilled at what they do then Riverdance is a must see! I have seen this show in person and the dvd is a way to keep enjoying this program after going to the show. If you haven't seen the show this dvd is a way to entice you to see it when it comes to your area.
