Movie synopsis

The pixel-happy production company Blue Sky follows its successful feature ICE AGE with more animated antics in ROBOTS. Rodney Copperbottom (voiced by Ewan McGregor) is a talented inventor who hopes to make his fortune by moving to Robot City and working among the nuts and bolts of the robotics industry. Rodney fantasizes about building robots for his boyhood hero and master inventor Big Weld (Mel Brooks), but when he meets him, Rodney's dream threatens to turn rusty. Big Weld reveals that his company is now being run by the evil Phineas T. Ratchet (Greg Kinnear), a merciless moneymaker who wants to rid the world of the antiquated robots that clutter up the streets of Robot City. This leaves Rodney's aspirations needing a major oil change, and with little chance of finding work, he feels about as useful as a broken spare part. So he takes to the streets, where he finds some unlikely salvation in a group of robots lead by Fender (Robin Williams). Fender urges Rodney to help save them from the scrap heap, while Ratchet and his company create threatening new policies on robot reconstruction. The ensuing action leads to a breathtaking set of adventures in the futuristic city. A fun, dizzying delight, ROBOTS benefits from the many voices of Robin Williams, who is the perfect comic foil to Ewan McGregor's central character. The special effects are masterfully handled, and the rendering of Robot City is a true sight to behold. A film that should find a broad audience among adults and children alike, ROBOTS is fast-paced animated entertainment at its finest.

An inventive, and fun movie about a world where Robots live and how they live. And a fun journey of self discovery for one young robot named Rodney, who finds his place in the big robot city. Rodney is an inventor who travels to the big city to make it at big weld enterprises, only to find that big weld has abandoned his company to the whims of a mad bot!

Robots

My 3 year old niece loves this movie and whenever he comes over, which is often, we have to watch it. The animation is great and I love the voice over character of Robin Williams. This part really suited him. If you have young children, they will really like this movie. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Cute and Funny

Robots is a great movie for the kids! The animation is amazing and the setting of the movie was designed so well! Each individual robot was created beautifully. Cute and funny!
The movie is really clean, anything geared towards the adult viewers is subtle and suitable for all ages. Definitely something the kids will watch over and over again. Robin Williams and Drew Carey are the voices of the star Robots and they capture the characters quite well.
Check out this movie for some good family fun!

Green before Green was In!

Created: 04/11/10
We purchased this movie several years after it became available because the Disney Interactive Robots Exhibit was on my kiddo's field trip list this year. They hadn't seen it and a review of the film was warranted. How could we have missed this adorable piece of film the first time?
An awesome Choice for children during the Recession: citizens choosing to fix, repair, and make the most of what they have. Keeping to the moral high ground in hard times. Knowing family and friends are more important than money and doing it all with a splash of soulful flair! Creative, imaginative and a feel-good family film. Robin Williams at his toned-down-for-the-kids best.
