Robots (DVD, 2009, Movie Cash)

Chris Wedge|Theatrical release: 2005 | Rating: PG (MPAA)

Movie synopsis

The pixel-happy production company Blue Sky follows its successful feature ICE AGE with more animated antics in ROBOTS. Rodney Copperbottom (voiced by Ewan McGregor) is a talented inventor who hopes to make his fortune by moving to Robot City and working among the nuts and bolts of the robotics industry. Rodney fantasizes about building robots for his boyhood hero and master inventor Big Weld (Mel Brooks), but when he meets him, Rodney's dream threatens to turn rusty. Big Weld reveals that his company is now being run by the evil Phineas T. Ratchet (Greg Kinnear), a merciless moneymaker who wants to rid the world of the antiquated robots that clutter up the streets of Robot City. This leaves Rodney's aspirations needing a major oil change, and with little chance of finding work, he feels about as useful as a broken spare part. So he takes to the streets, where he finds some unlikely salvation in a group of robots lead by Fender (Robin Williams). Fender urges Rodney to help save them from the scrap heap, while Ratchet and his company create threatening new policies on robot reconstruction. The ensuing action leads to a breathtaking set of adventures in the futuristic city. A fun, dizzying delight, ROBOTS benefits from the many voices of Robin Williams, who is the perfect comic foil to Ewan McGregor's central character. The special effects are masterfully handled, and the rendering of Robot City is a true sight to behold. A film that should find a broad audience among adults and children alike, ROBOTS is fast-paced animated entertainment at its finest.

Robots Movie-Fun for the whole family!!!!

Created: 03/06/06
This movie is great for the whole family. It teaches the valuable lesson of never giving up on your dreams and has current music and doesn't go into adult themes like so many animated movies do nowadays. The nice thing is that it is appealing to adults despite not going taking the easy way out and using sexual themes etc. All of my children love this movie and so do I and I hope someday they think of the tenacity of Rodney Copperbottom when they are thinking of giving up on anything. If nothing else, the characters have funny names and it is hilarious to hear the young ones trying to say them. Rodney gets called Cogigone in our house. I recommend this movie to anyone of any age and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Perhaps time and time again!

One to watch over and over!

My five year old son is fasinated with this movie. I like it myself! With stars such as Mel Brooks, Halle Berry, Drew Carey and Robin Williams you can't go wrong. This is a good lesson in "you can accomplish anything, if you set your mind to it" for your child. The star is Rodney, who travels to the city for an adventure and he ends up saving Robots existance and Mr. Bigwell, too! He fixes old Robots as they are trying to be outdated. This movie is funny, yet touches the heart. I myself have viewed it several times(which I rarely do).

GREAT STORY MESSAGE

Created: 17/01/06
This is not one of the favorites, but it is a good movie. I LOVE the story line and the meaning of it, that dreams do come true. That is why I give it a thumbs up x2.
It has a weird animation of everything metal(meaning the robots) and of different parts (where the robots live), the blue man group did an awesome job on the sounds and it fits the movie perfectly. Robin Williams had funnier parts and better movies, and it was not his best work. He did pass the test for this movie because it fit together so well. There was funny adult humor that the kids won't understand and there was funny kid's humor that they did understand. My 7 and 13 yr old loves it! It is worth the buy and the rental.
*** PERSONAL NOTE*** I would highly suggest renting before you buy just to be sure it is a movie you really want. It is not for everyone's taste buds, but for the family collection, it is worth it.

Robots DVD

I love this movie, I thought it was funny, exciting and had a really good story. The characters definitly make this movie, they are hilarious, outrageously funny, and sweet at the same time. I bought the movie to give to a friend's daughter for her birthday and ended up watching it several times with her, I couldn't help myself. It's definitly a family movie and will be enjoyed by small children to adults alike.
