Rock Band (Special Edition) (Sony PlayStation 2, 2007)

The Playstation 2 version doesn't have the song downloads the 360 and PS3 have, but it is still ton of fun. Even on medium some of the songs have drum parts that are really difficult...I don't know how I'll ever make it on hard. Vocal is much more forgiving and I can get through some on hard. Guitar is fun on medium, but adding in another fret on hard is beyond me. I would love it if hard was actually very easy but used the 5 frets, allowing me to get good at using the 5 before really going crazy on the difficulty.

In general the song list is quite good. I do sort of prefer how Guitar Heroes lets you skip one at each level and still progress, since every once in a while there's a song I just can't like.

This is truly a wonderful game that won't get used for a month and then end up collecting dust, like many other games out there. My 16-year old daughter loved it and played it at her friend's house all the time, so I bought it for all 5 of our girls (ages 7, 10,11,12, and 16). All of them love it and play it regulary. It was harder for the seven-year old, but she even had fun with the singing part of it. I even love it. My husband and I were playing right along with the kids also. It is great for adults at parties and it definitely keeps the kids busy. If you are looking for a game that will grab everyone's attention and keep it, this is it. It also really teaches and improves hand eye coordination and concentration skills in a big way. This is the best gift I have ever gotten for my kids.

The only problem with it is that it's missing the ability to add songs to it :(. The game play is more like guitar hero than the other rock bands (the parts where u pick which song to play) but it works great.

The guitar is great, my biggest problem is that the guitar's tilt switch is flaky at best. Star Power (or whatever it's called) doesn't always work when you want it to (but it doesn't with my GH guitar).

All in all, my wife and I love playing it. It's fun when u have 4 or 5 people. It's just a great game.

I have heard about this product from many people and decided that since I love guitar hero - I would get the full meal deal. I am so pleased> it is just as fun as guitar hero, but everyone can play. It is easy to learn and you can push your effort level to the max. It is really a fun party game. I have put about 4 hours into the game, which is not much, but i look forward to our next party. I have purchased pad covers and foot pedal (metal) for the game, as well as a drum chair. I have two year old who will probably benefit more than I in the next few years from this game. the drums really teach you to play. The guitar teaches you timing and is just as fun. Great purchase -- heck you take your family to a movie these days and dinner and you will spend more than I did no this one. Enjoy and good luck.
