Fantastic!

Upon receiving it and holding it in my hands, I can say it feels "weighty" with excellent build quality. There is no play in the focus or aperture rings. Overall, I'm very impressed. Having shot with this lens for a full day, the images are tack sharp, bright and stunning. Again, very impressed. For DSLR shooters who dabble in video, this is the perfect lens if you need medium reach and fast optics. For the price and performance, this Rokinon 85mm f1.4 can't be beat. I've been shooting photos for over ten years, and this lens simply amazes me. I also use it for time lapse, again, perfect lens for flicker-free time lapses as it is a manual lens. For the price, you can buy several of them and put them to use in time lapse applications, thereby increasing your productivity.
For video shooters and time lapse aficionados, this lens is perfection. As it is a fully manual lens with no EXIF chip, it may not suit photographers used to AF lens. For hobbyists and those looking to shoot in low-light, this lens is ideal. It is surprisingly sharp wide open, and competes well against brands four times the price. I highly recommend this lens.

Great portrait lens!

I was looking for a fast portrait lens for a while. I wanted to have a lens with a picture like canon EF 85/1,2L or sony CZ ZA 85/1,4. As far as i'm linked to canon system, i would have to spend a big sum of money if i had not find alternaive - rokinon 85mm 1,4. For my needs the lack of autofocus is not a big problem, i don't do reportage, but for concentrated creative shooting it's an excellent lens. As for me i shoot with this lens in live view mode, it,s the best way to get a very accuraate focus.
This lens is already sharp wide open and has a picture and bokeh of the best brend lenses and even better! Stoped down it,s very sharp. for it's price it's a very good value. Highly reccomended!

The optics on this Rokinon / Samyang lens are pristine, clear and distortion free, uses high quality glasses and has very good construction, plus a high speed aperture at f1.4, making it the perfect choice for low light photography and portraits.
Something I really love of this lens is its internal focusing (IF) wich makes the lens stay the same size while you focus, perfect for my digital video camera rig on rails.
One rare thing with mine (EOS mount) is that the apperture ring goes in opposite direction as the focus ring, it has the closest apperture on the left side and the infinite focus mark on the right side of the focus ring, maybe for lowering the production costs, since nikon lenses had everything in the opposite and this lens is also made for nikon mount.

Fantastic 85mm wide aperture lens
Created: 01/07/10
This lens is fantastic, for such a wide aperture it is amazingly cheap. Would recommend to anyone. Why pay $2500 for the canon equivalent when you can spend only $250?
The only thing that might worry people is the fully manual settings, it will take a little while getting used to the focusing, it has a really really really small depth of field, so make sure you get the focusing perfect.
Here is a good thread i found about the lens:

Great lens, but not for folks who didn't grow up on manual focus lens.

The lens is very well built, a little hard to focus, but i knew that going in, will take a while to get a handle on focusing, love the manual aperture ring. It is more sturdy and solid than any Canon lens I own.
