Album Notes
Personnel: John Scofield (guitar); Hal Galper (piano); Stafford James (bass); Adam Nussbaum (drums).Recorded at Studio Zuckerfabrik, Stuttgart, Germany on November 27, 1978.This early outing (reissued on CD) finds guitarist John Scofield playing advanced postbop jazz with pianist Hal Galper (who here sounds strongly influenced by McCoy Tyner), bassist Stafford James and drummer Adam Nussbaum. They perform five Scofield originals and Galper's "Triple Play." Although this was not the usual setting for Sco, his tone is immediately recognizable and his adventurous solos will be of interest to his many fans. ~ Scott Yanow
