This is a great book with lots of intrigue, surprises and an amazing climactic ending you will never suspect. This isnt a normal phantasy book in the sense that magic is used to tie up any inconveniences or plot mistakes. Instead it is an intriguing political drama where magic takes a place on the side-line, and cunning/guile determine one's outcome. Although the book isnt completely flawless, I would recommend this book (and the trilogy) to everyone. Out of the trilogy - this one stands alone as my favorite. I still cant get over the ending.

i only just started it but it's going great thus far. i bought to continue the robin hobb series. i can't wait till i start the 3rd book
